Classic Industries lower front spoiler
Just received this a few days ago and i already plan on returning it. I want to pull the old one off and do a side by side comparison but at first glance im very disapointed. It looks like its basically cast after a horribly beat up factory piece. Compared to stock the the plastic/urethane is horribly thin and wavy. Its missing mounting holes and the normally sharp cut nose is anything but on the new piece. The nose looks rounded off and lacks the ridge that runs down the center. I hope the body shop will be able to repair the old one. Im going to get an estimate from the body shop next week. I will post some pics within the nest few days. Anyone know where i can find a good reproduction one or have this same problem with classic industries?

I'm sure the pic will be as poor as described.
But I just don't get it. How difficult is it to reproduce quality plastic parts? Is there that much difference in production cost between making a part that looks right, and a bent piece of ****?

I got my chin spoiler from them 3 years ago and it was a perfect match and good quality.
Guess they get the 91-92 from a different supplier

Sorry for the long wait for the pics guys, here they are. You can see the obvious difference in quality. The Classic industry one being the black one, is lacking mounting holes as well as poor finish and material. The only way to describe it as feeling like a wet noodle, very bendy and just doesnt want to hold its form versus the original. Just my opinion. Buy one and find out.

Wow what a difference. The one I got for my '91 had all the mounting holes and was perfect.
They may have a different vendor.

My question is have you tried ordering through a dealership? I'm not sure if GM still has any but I purchased NOS GM through a dealership for my replacement about 3 years ago.

Well thats what i should have done, but...... It just didnt occur to me that dealers would still carry these. Although classic industries did sell this one to me for 150 not including shipping, at the time i thought i was getting a great deal but turns out i got what i paid for. Also just a note if you look very carefully you can see down the center theres a line that runs directly through it just like stock. Except on the CI's product there is no defined sharp nose like the original.

Yea its sad no one sells quality reproduction stuff for these cars currently. Better off tracking down an original and reconditioning it.

Yea the original one i had i bought from year one for like $150 in 1999 and was wrapped in the original GM packaging. Last time i checked with them they no longer carry this part. Maybe they didnt want to resort to selling bad quality products unlike some other companies. Dam cheap chinese repro's.

Re: Classic Industries lower front spoiler
I'd sent that spoiler back immediately. That's horrible, good price but part is junk IMO. I ordered a fuel line from them and it was folded into and stuck in a box. They're pic in mag of the lines showed them folded up as well. Guess that's how they're supplier shipped them. They worked with me but still had to straighten out the line. Guess I was expecting too much for the price.

It's an extremely important question... but i applaud you for providing accurate documentation.

They didnt say the product was abnormal in anyway. I told them there was another website that offered the same part and they beat the price. I havent returned it yet, im still trying to find another spoiler or fix my old one. If it comes down to it i was thinking about reconditioning the one they sent me as a last resort. Maybe use a heat gun to smooth it out. Other companies charge almost double what i got this one for. Shipping on something like this is terrible.

Re: Classic Industries lower front spoiler
I guess you were asking me. LOL Yes they did let me return the first one and sent a second before I noticed they're pic. They're service was fine. I'd order from them again. I was just very disappointed that someone went to all the trouble to bend the line correctly then just cram it in a box basically. IIRC the stainless line I bought was over 100 bucks plus shipping, really expected it to be perfect.
