Yes, when that intake valve open up, we want every corner of the intake tract to be as smooth as the airfoil, as this helps straighten out the air and increases the velocity (speed), so although the volume of the tract has not actually increased, you will still definitely get much more air into the cylinders when velocity is increased...

Oh ok cool thanks for teaching me this. Not even my college automotive teacher tells us this. I have another question would all of this be worthless if i don't port my cylinder heads?

I plan on 30-psi with the T88 and the flow needs to be as smooth as possible, no obstructions. Not to mention, doing this mod to the stock runners without siamesing the lower intake is essentially useless...
Right, I was talking about that for a NA motor. I am in no way knocking the port job, it looks nice. If you siamese the lower, then your pulling from both of the runners for more volume of air. I think piston speed, runner length/taper and lack of restriction creates the velocity. In a NA app of course.
At 30 PSI you could have a piece of drywall in there and your guna get air.
As I'm sure you know, If you set your motor to run 30PSI and then put bigger intake, heads, headers or exhaust on you will have less boost but make more power because of less restriction and more volume.
Boost is also known as wasted power and extra hot air that needs cooled..
Soo make your motor more efficient and you wont need to use that much boost to reach your power goals. No matter how nutty high your wanting them !! Of course these points are glossed over a bit but you get the idea.

Has anyone run a stock vs siamesed lower on a dyno or at the track? I've always wondered if its worth it.

Yes, boost is just a resistance reading, we can force in x amount of air at 30-psi, but then open up the intake tract even more and force the same amount of air with the same turbo at say 25-psi depending on how much we remove and finesse. The beauty of increasing the intake tract's volume, as well as speeding up its' velocity, is the turbo does not have to work as hard w/the added benefit being lowered air temps (denser air, less chance of detonation)...

Not worthless at all. When we siamese the intake, we essentially give the combustion chambers a closer source to draw it's air from, this increases our RPM potential because the pathway is shortened in terms of a volume source. Think of it like installing an LT1 intake, only your using your "gutted" TPI system instead. Here is the benefit regarding RPM...

Re: 89-92 SLP TPI Intake Runners [20004]

It is a 355 forged TRW's/ 10.7 comp./ AFR 195 Elim./
Jones cam 228/228 113 LSA .560 lift/My headers & dual cat Y/ 3 1/2" cat back/
super ported 3860 base/modded SLP runners and 52mm TB.

By the way, that kind of blows away that theory about losing tq. with short runners. It makes 350+ tq. from 2500 to 4900.
