March Performance bracket and pulley setup - WHAT IS UP WITH THE ALTERNATOR?!!!
I sent a email and pictures to march performance about a question i had on my alternator...
"I bought a setup just like this http://www.marchperf.com/pg63.html but the cheaper silver powered coated kit everything works great and bolted up perfect, only one thing i was a bit confused about is the alternator pulley. it almost seems like the pulley wasn't milled far enough. I couldn't use the lock washer and i could barely tighten the nut. I would say that the pulley is probably held on the shaft by a few threads, it worries me. I even took off the cooling fins and tried to get extra room. when i ordered from summit racing they said everything would work with my setup"
------
There repose was that some alternators have different sized shafts and that as long as a few threads would hold the pulley on it would be fine and if i was worried about it to use lock tight.
Take a look for your self and tell me what you think?!

I think its supposed to have a different style pulley. I have the exact set up for the electric pump, but for a bbc, and the alterator pulley they sent looks different than yours pictured. If you were supposed to recieve every part in the link, then that pulley in the pic isnt the right one, or like you thought, wasnt properly machined finished, not deep enough and no holes to mount the cap. Did you recieve a cap/cover?

If your dealing with Summit Racing than you must talk to a Technician at 1-330-630-0240. E-mail him the photo if you must .I would never run any thing that has the potential of seriously hurting me or others. That just looks wrong.
