AS&M long tube runners
On thunderracing.com, they list these as a 30 lb-ft and 22 hp increase over a stock l98. not up to, or possible, or nearly, but definitively. can anyone verify this? and if so, what about their siamesed runners?

Sliver,
I don't know about that, if's its sounds to good to be try then most of the time its not. The only two mods I think would give you a boost like that on a stock L98 would be nos, or a supercharger. And if that were the case people would be jumping on that like wild fire, cause 20hp is a pretty big hop from one bolt on. I could be wrong though.

I checked out what you were talking about. Their claims as you mentioned are for the L98 350. A 22 hp increase is quite respectable and possible in view of the what it is that is being changed. They are essentially tuning the engine to have the peak tq a little higher in the power band, and thus will give more HP. On the tq end of things, they will just flow better to give a better VE at that higher peak tq RPM. The larger runners also act as being a larger plenum to a small degree.

My thinking is the hp and tq gain may not be in the peak power of each, but somewhere in the powerband itself this gain is realized. IE., picked up the 30ft of torque at 2000rpms but at its peak it may have only picked up 5 or so ft of torque. Which, this in turn means more power through the whole rpm range and not just peak.

i thought that same thing, not peak but more, might even just be more average, but regardless itll lift the powerband up, better top end, and it probbly is a respectable gain, just seems kinda high. maybe ill pick some up. oh any ideas about their siamesed runners? power estimates?
