which set of headers should i get

hey guys, been saving for a nice set of headers. I just wanted to know why it doesn't seem like many people go with full lengths. Seems like hooker and hedman offer a few full lengths.
if they are good headers, how would ground clearance be? I'd really only like to spend around 300 on a set..if someone could send me in a good direction for coated headers even...that'd be great.
thanx

The full length headers require a dual exhaust setup. Our f-body's have very little space between the ground and floorboards... where are you planning to mount the mufflers? and how will you keep the collector flange from scraping every speedbump even if you do cut the floor for the mufflers?

I personally have the Hedman 68460 full-length headers with a dual exhaust. I had the pipes custom-bent and use Dynomax Bullet mufflers and it dumps right before the rear end. The collector flange doesn't scrape the ground. If you have a T5, you have to bend the driver's side out and down to clear the slave cylinder for the clutch. E-mail me with questions and I'll try to give some specific answers.

89,
Well you could get a set headers for less the 300, but you'll have to get a y-pipe made. That may range from 100-300 for just that. Well what I did was I went with hooker shortys with a y-pipe included. Now let me tell you if your going to get them coated, which you should, it reduces heat, then go with Jet Hot Coating. Their the best. Now you can buy this set from tell already coated, Now get ready for this, it's going to cost you about $569. But a wise friend told me you get what you pay for. I've had mine for almost 6 months and they still look new. If you just get the headers and y-pipe combo uncoated from summit it's like $330-369. Alright check it out, heres a few things you should know before getting your headers, You may need shorter spark plugs, I got a set from advanced auto ran me about 35 for the set. You want to keep your plugs wires as far as way as possible, cause you'll burned them up fast if not. Plus normal plugs wouldn't fit cause they hit the headers. Just thought I would let you know, oh your prob have to get the custom plugs with the 90 degree boots cause you really can't use the strait boots anymore. And one last thing make sure you pull and tie off all wires away from the headers. Cause if not you might burn through some of your wiring harness and that will be nothing but trouble.Well hope this helps you out. Well I m just letting you know cause this is the probs i ran into putting in my headers. Their fun but what a pain. Let us know what you choose.

oh my bad one last thing, I agree with Sleeper. All the thirdgens I ve seen with like custom dual from Long tubes headers, ran with dual looked like crap. I seen this one almost scraping the ground driving behind him. Now I m not saying everyone's just the ones I've seen.Oh and the shorties were a tight fit I could only image, long tubes.

Like I said, I have the Hedman full length headers and dual exhaust, and the collector flange doesn't scrape, but other parts do...lol. It's not bad if you're doing mostly highway driving, but if you're in the city, or around bumpy roads, I will agree that dual exhaust is definitely a bad idea. On the few bumpy roads I have to take, I take it at a reasonable pace, even though it breaks my heart to go slow. But other than that, I do highway driving back and forth to work, and the dual exhaust for me is more for attitude I guess you could say. I like noise..lol Actually though, they were not a bad fit even with full length tubes, they both went up pretty easy from underneath.

Yeah i know what your saying, well the prob I ran into was that my shorties had air tubes on it. Well the drivers side went on so easy from the top, But the passagerside was the worst. Dang air tubes took me like a hour to work them in there. And it was all for nothing, Cause they broke anyway when I was at the track. But that was alright cause me buddy broke them off tacked the holes up. Cause my smog stuff fell off Yeah I got the deep tranny pan and thats a nightmare I can only image the dual exhaust. I saw a iroc with it and everytime there was a dip in the road there was almost sparks. Pretty scary.

Dude, Relax

Relax man, we are messing around. Calm down and laugh it off for once and don't take stuff so personal. Not trying to **** anybody off, just tryingt to enjoy ourselves. Besides, you're not allowed to say derogatory stuff anyway.
