Car is dead=Juffy Lube
got my oil changed at Juffy Lube about 1 month (500 miles ago)
well the bastards didn't tighten the oil filter good enough.
well ALL the oil drained out and the engine seized up in the tunnel causing a huge traffic jam. Well the car died and i had it towed to the local dealership. they told me the bad news and quoted
$1,600 for a rebuild of the current engine (they beleve just the lower bearings are shot)
$3,000 for a rebuilt GM
$ 3,400 for a new Jasper
turned in the paperwork to jiffy lube today and i should be hearing from them tomorrow about what they are going to do about it.
I'll keep you all informed.

well they were supposed to go to the dealership today and look at the car. i should hear from them soon on what they plan on doing to the car to make me feel better.
I want a New Engine. and while we are at it I'll front the difference so it will be a new 350 with a 3yr/50K warrenty.
then I'll be happy. in any way when i do get my settlement the first people i call will be consumer affairs and report their butt.

great news!!!!!!!!!!!
the good news is that jiffy called today.
they said they looked at the car and they said the engine is shot beound repair. and they also said it was their fault. yuppee!!!!!because of the low miles on the car they will pay for a rebuilt GM engine with a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty.
called the dealer and they advised me to front the $400 and get a new Jasper with a 3yr/50,000 so i plan on doing at least that.
I also asked them what the price on putting a 350 in there.
they will be calling back on monday with the price.
so i am happy.
heck i'll take alittle pain in the butt and pay $400 for a new engine on a warranty
more info to follow.

Congrats man, but Id be careful with that Jasper... My friend just had an L98 from Jasper installed in his car, and has had countless problems. The valves were way too tight, shattering two of them. The car still doesent run right either. Maybe he just got a lemon, but this isnt the first time Ive heard of something like this coming from Jasper. Just thought Id give ya the heads up.

They did that to a friends 92 Heritage Z. The only bad thing. He never really drives the car so it mostly sat for 6 months slowly lossing oil. When he did finally drive it it blew, and they wouldnt pay since it sat for so long. He spent a ton of money putting a 350 in it out of his own pocket.. Good news you got them to pay up. Jiffy-Lubes manager at the place he went to told him they replace several thousand engines a yr across the country because of this kind of stupid ****. Avoid Jiffy Lube...

never again will i go to jiffy lube.
i have opted for the new 305 for $400. i just can't afford to shell out $1200 for a 350. don't have the cash. people that i know tell me to get the check for $3000 and put in a 350 myself. i don't trust anyone around here to help me with something like that. and i know because i have never done any major engine work that the car would sit and it would take forever to get it running.
besides can't beat a 3yr/50,000 mile warrenty. how many people can say that? they have an 88 with a warrenty????
should get it back on wed or thur.

lol......
i tell you what even though they are a bunch of blind, retarded, monkeys with no arms when i comes to changing oil. they were very painless when it came to looking at the car and fessing up to the fact that it was their fault.
here is how it went.
mon 5pm turned in the paperwork with a copy of the recipet to the local jiffy.
850am the next day (tues) they called from the corporate office and said they would send someone to look at the car that day.
waited all day wed, no call. thursday left a message at the office.
fri morning got a call from the same guy with the good news.
very painless
i guess they know they suck and if i ever took them to court their track record would have spoke for it self.

I work in a new car dealership and I have replaced several engines in my short (7 1/2 years) career, funded by quick lube companies. How hard is it to tighten a plug, filter, and dump in 4 qts. I am glad to see them take fault as some of them don't without a fight.

hot for teacher-Van Halen-1984, good quote GTA! as for Biker's car, it really sucks a fat one that they messed up that original motor. its sosss funny, it lasted 14 years w/o many probs at all, but 15 mins in the hands of Stiffy Lube and she's toast. poor car.

My experience with quick lube f ups though is usually drain plug issues. They always seem to forget that last grunt when tightening. Plug falls out on highway and customer sees a pretty red light they all just seem to ignore. Screaminformula, like that quote, hah. Could have also used: "Sit down....W-A-L-D-O" or "I give it a ten, a F*****g ten"(Billy Bob, Varsity Blues).

hell, how's this one for ya. my aunt had just bought an '86 Camaro SC. 2.8 V6, auto, t-tops, woman's car... oh, by the way, this was in late '89 that the f'up took place, she got the car new. well, for some reason or another, when she took it to pu$$y lube
they told her that with the "higher" mileage of her Camaro (75,000 i believe at the time) that all of her fluids needed to be changed. so my aunt, while not dumb, trusted them and let them change ALL of the fluids in the car. well, while on the way home she noted that the brake pedal began to feel "funny". about 2 stops or so after the funny feeling came aboard, she found herself standing on the pedal with both feet getting NO RESPONSE whatsoever from the brake system!!! well, my aunt, being a fairly smart woman, yanked on the e-brake and shortly thereafter stopped. after my uncle looked the brake system over, he quickly found the problem. Note #1: a typical passenger car's braking system won't work too well WHEN TRANSMISSION FLUID IS PUT IN PLACE OF THE FLUID!!! well, they DID admit their f'up and re-did every bit of the brake system due to the fact that the tranny juice made all the rubber swell (swelling hoses shut-no fluid flow=same feel at pedal, no braking at all) and paid my aunt compensation, not sure how much though. i think they agreed so well because my uncle is a VERY BIG GUY (all muscle) and he wasn't too happy when he went back there after his wife was almost killed...

i had gotten home the day before from the assorted minitures show in greenville MS. my 83 ran fine.
as i was going to pick up the title for my new project mini i whipped into s***y lube for a T-5 top off. guy said yea sure bring it round , no cost. so me and my gf sat there for 15 mins and i thought "man this is takin a while". guy came up and said "your fill plug is acting like its tripped and started getting hard to pull oiut so we screwed it back in.
i sais hmm, ok ill look at it later. as i left first was ok second went in gear kinda notchy and third said you aint goin here. i turned around whipped back in and said what did you do to my tranny? guy said nothing, we didnt lose any fluid , couldnt cus we never got the plug out. so i rolled it on the rack and he shown me what plug he pulled. i wasnt thinking when he shown me, all i could think was to get it home. i called a shop i seen in Car Craft . the convieniently did a manual article that issue.
called the guy in cali and told him whats up. he said yup they pulled your 5th rev linkage plug. they owe you some tranny service.
i called the next day and told the serv mgr what the deal was and he said nooooo prob , bring it in and ill adj for ya. i said dude there are no adj on this thing its a T-5, all internal. he said in a low tone oooohhhhh.
well after taking a week of waiting and me playing middle man, the shops already doing their part i said do sometthing they are waiting on you.
i waited anothe week and said if you dont move and i dont have my car back by tues im callin my attourney.
i also told them they better have the check in the hands of the shops (one to pull the tranny and the one across the way to go thru it) so i can get my car. by 1:00 p. tues i was rollin down to the casinos goin to the hot rod power tour in the T/A.
after dealing with them and getting a bad deal from wally world(ill tell that one another time)i never ever ever will let another shop touch anything of mine like that unles its out of my hands tool wise.
