Whats up with Ebay

I have been trying to sell my old 305 TPI with no luck. Tonight, I tried to put it on Ebay and was surprised to see that they (ebay) now require the seller to give them a checking account # and routing #. F**k that!!!! Its bad enough I give them a credit card #. What next sperm sample or DNA scan???? Give me a break.

I can understand trying to keep a secure site and all. That just irritates me. I don't like the idea of having all that info out there in the hands of ebay.

All I want is to sell my old motor and some other TPI stuff.

They always required that info for billing costs. Also that old 305 is only good for a boat anchor if that. The shipping costs woud eat a buyer up.

Ya, that irritated me as well, since I don't have a checking account. I had to use my brothers account.

Best bet is to sell the TPI setup without the motor and just give the motor away. That is what I did, gave a couple of friends some 305's that I didn't want.

I sold a set of headers like 6 months ago and they didn't ask for any checking account info. Also, back in January, the motor did sell to a guy who was in the military stationed near me. He was going to come pick it up, but by the time he had some free time it was early March and he got sent over to the Persian Gulf. I was hoping to get a little money for it, not too much.

yeah i would sell the tpi unit by itself.

if you want to use ebay, just follow their rules; you can sometimes make alot more money selling stuff on their then for example on here or another classifieds place.

good luck.

I agree that ebay is a good venue to sell stuff. I just think that they require too much information to use their site. Oh well.

BTW, the tpi stuff, at least the aftermarket stuff is going to get sold individually.

For anyone who reads this and may be interested, Iam going to be selling a few of the things from my sig. The intake, runners, cam, fuel rails, plenum. I am going with the HSR and selling the TPI equipment. The 305 engine is almost complete. Thanks for the responses.

Think you have problems with EBAY. Somehow they put in proxy bids in my name on three different items. Dont know how they associated my name with those articles. I replyed on all of them after they said that I was the highest bidder(I didnt bid at all) and told them that what they had done was a mistake. Not a word from them yet.

The only way to keep people honest is to ask for that much info. If they have your credit card and bank account info, you may not try and pull a fast one when you realize Ebay has access to yank it out of your life savings. But Ebay and Paypal have asked for that info for quiet some time. You must have a real old account. I have had mine for about a year and had to give all that info. Not only that but they will also deposit a few cents into your account and then ask you how much it was to verfiy that it is again a real account.

It may sound like allot but it keeps people honest.

Matt

Never a problem with E-Bay as a Buyer or Seller. And the info they ask for is not out ou the ordinary when Money is involed. If you don't like the Rules do not play, just take your ball and go home.

Its not that I mind EBAY with all the info., but tell me how they put in bids for me that I havent even visited those sites? They bid on my account on three different items. On each occasion, I replied that I had not bidded on those items and they didnt even respond. It must have been a really big mistake. I gave out my password to noone. I have since changed that password and keep a good eye out.

How much are you asking for the TPI unit?

I'd take off the manifold, sell the TPI unit, the ECU and wiring
harness on Ebay (if possible)

take the block, strip it down, pull the cam, pistons, rods, crank
everything out, and try to sell it all, if it's all in good condition,
people will buy that stuff used and use it for a different
application.

a good idea maybe? Yeah there's parting out a car, but now
we're parting out engines. Hehe.

You know if you got a 305 for free that would help offset the cost of building it up and would make it worth it if you didn't want to go to wild. Especially if you were going to use a power adder.
