power of lt1 conversions

i just acquired a converted lt1 intake and fuel rails (for $75 shipped to my door!!!) and am in the process of putting it on my 5.7 iroc. I was wondering how they compare to the hsr's, mini-rams, etc. I've read all the info on lt1intake.com but i want a second opinion! thanks

they are just like the mini-rams, only difference is the 3" runners, Vs the mini rams 3.5" not much difference, i have a thread on here
comparing the 2 with pics....

also check out this thread gives you an idea of the diffrent types of intakes and how they perform....

i read that tpi shootout article in hopes that they might have done a converted lt1 in there but they didn't but was still a very good article about all the types of aftermarket injection systems though!!

Anyone have any "hard" numbers on the LT1 intakes? Any dyno or track times that can be compared to other known or proven combos?

I'm still not convinced that the LT1 intake is "the same" as the miniram. It may look the same, but does it perform the same?

I need more than "pretty much". Dyno numbers, 3rd party flow numbers, cross section area of runners, etc.

Goto LT1Intake.com and look at the information there. You will find a couple of things with dyno information.

where do you think gm got the idea from, tpis had the intake out before gm released the LT1 of course gm had to make it with egr to be legal!other than that i have seen and used both and i will say they are comparable in power however the miniram has more room for growth(power for larger C.I. powerplants)

hey man thats awesome, i cant wait to see that thing! i actually wanted to go LT1 but i got such a good deal on the stealth ram that i had to take it.

from what i understand the LT1 and stealth ram have about the same power curve, so if you want i can show you exactly how its going to feel vs the TPI setup. in my opinion all it will do is move the powerband up, it somewhat helps keep the tires under it. and now i can pull to 5500rpm or more. Give me a call if you want to 341-2813

The LT1 intake was under concept in the late 1980's and put into production in late 1991 (1992 Corvette). This is well before TPIS devoloped the Miniram.

So, it was TPIS who copied the LT1.

i just did my LT1 intake conversion.. modified it myself.. and if i would have known what a pain in the *** it was.. i would have let John do it...

anyways.. the power is incredible.. a night and day difference.

my engine consists of 93 LT1 Y body cam.. 083 heads, with 1.60 exhaust valves.. 1.5 roller rockers.. hooker 2055 to a full 3" system. stock throttle body, LT1 24# injectors, tremec 6 speed, under drive pulley's..

my old stock TPI system got me a best of 13.94 @ 98.89 but i think with this swap, it will shave off at least a few tenths.

car is pulling to 5400rpms.. best mod i have done so far.

Have you taken it to the track for comparable numbers?
I am interested in the LT1 swap as well.

as soon as my get my trans in, intake will be the next thing. and the lt1 is sounding like a good idea right about now. this would require tuning too, like the stealth ram...correct. if so, can i just buy a chip and install it easily? what kind of info do you give on the chip? because im doing an auto to manual swap and if that was part of the chip that would be helpful too i think.

Post numbers when you get them, but don’t be too confident before you get them.

Everyone talks about how much stronger they feel, but the few actual numbers that I’ve seen usually has the car gaining about 0-2mph but loosing or breaking even in et.

Engine: lt1 intaked 355 makin 277 on 25 psi of fuel pressure and stock timing :)
Transmission: A4 stock... that moved a mobile dyno a foot shifting into 2nd :)
ok i have swapped in the intake and a bigger motor and i know for a fact mine will pull to 6500 7k if i push it.... and BIG DIFF... i had a stock trans am tpi 305 with 2.73.s and i think i got the best time of 10.3ish with the stock setup in the 1/8th.. put in a 355 with trickflow heads compcam292 cam lt1 intake headers exhaust and 3.73's and was pullin 9.1's on street tires with 2.6 60foot. put in a converter and a set of slicks and i am pulling 8.81's at 79 mph with 2.2 60foot i cant stall it to where i want because i dont have the right perportining valve for the brakes 1le upgrade... but i am beating all the ls1 guys with bolt ons and this is on stock susp. just sportline springs and put down 279 rwhp untunned
