HSR Changes?
My Holley Stealth Ram intake arrived last week and I took some measurements and photos. After sharing them with some friends, Mike Davis noticed that the intake looked a little different on the outside compared to his earlier-build HSR and wondered if the HSR could now be ported to a 1206 gasket. Looking at this picture, the HSR is closer to the FelPro 1204 gasket size than the 1205, but some of that is casting flash.

Compare this photo Mike Davis took about 3 1/2 years ago:

to this one of my manifold:

Looks like Holley changed a few things on the manifold, such as the built-up areas above the coolant ports front and rear, added more material on the top side of the port going up around the injector ports, and cut out the tops of the injector bung cleaner. I'm not sure if there is quite enough metal to take the ports out to a 1206, but that depends on how the ports line up with the intake bolt holes. If the extra gasket length all goes toward the top (injector bungs), then one could possibly port through the port wall next to the bungs depending on how far up the port is opened to the 1206 size. If the extra length is split both top and bottom, then there's enough metal to open it up that far. This picture shows the length and width (minimal change compared to a 1205) of a 1206 gasket:

This other picture shows it at a different angle and how far up that extra metal goes:

Anyone know when Holley changed the HSR and if it can be ported out w/out having to weld in extra metal around the ports?

Greg,
Cutting and pasting your post here:

might get the definitive answers. Doug F., the moderator there is an engineer for Holley.

The issue wasn't so much as the port height, but the width of the flange as it curved around the top of the port. They added a good bit of material to the width of the flange at the top of the ports. You can see the difference with the attached photo of the earlier run of intakes. See how there's not much room left to seal up on the old ones.
There's no question,,,, the new style HSR you have will seal up on a 1206 port without welding. Finally,,, someone out there is actually listening to user feedback!!!!!

Well i just got my new HSR with a casting date of 03/15/06 which is the new style with added meat but... here is a photo i just took after i marked it for a Felpro 1206. Yeah there is enough room to match it but the blue seal on the gasket still over hangs at the top by the injector bungs, if they didnt mill the angle that far down it would work with no problems but as far as i can see it will still need a strong 1/8" welded to the top. Can you guys running the HSR tell me if Accel 150830 #30 injectors work with this intake and rails, they measure allot shorter then my factory L98 injectors, and they are to tall to start the rail bolts. The Tech at Holley is to lazy to pull one of the ones they install in the kit to compare the measurement with the other injectors iam looking at. He said the Holley injectors are a replacement for the stock application as well as Accel and Ford racing SVO's # M-9593-B302-1. If anyone can help me as to what injectors their running with the HSR it would be great.

I think your mod will work ok, but I'm gonna pass
