My first engine project
My first engine project
This will be my first project where I actually work on the engine. I have spent the last 3 years researching and preparing, and I am almost ready to start. During these past 3 years I have also been collecting parts in order to accomplish the swap. Here is a list of all I have currently:
Cutler/Holley Single-plane EFI
Turbonetics Carb Hat
Cold air intake (The one from Anesthes after he removed supercharger)
TBI to TPI repinning parts
730' ECM for swap
Holley High-Flo fuel pump for swap
LT1 cam from a 96'
Subframe connectors from UMI
Adjustable controls arms, panhard bar from UMI, spherical ends
Spohn front rebuild kit
Edelbrcok strut tower brace
Spohn Wonderbar
Ostrich from Moates, already have a laptop
Custom made ALDL cable using MAX232 circuits
Full aluminum radiator from Be-cool
140 amp alternator
The items in bold are already in the car. The camaro currently has the original 305 TBI, bone stock except for open-air element. Im going to go ahead and put everything on the car with the 305 in order to prepare for the new engine. I had a 355 lined up, but decided to sell the engine along with the 74 Blazer. It had been rebuilt 2000 miles ago, but had been sitting for about 3 years, and the condition of it was unknown. So I will be starting fresh with a short-block ZZ4.
This is a daily-driven vehicle, so reliability is a must. Obviously other items will be along in the future like a 9" posi-rear, aluminum driveshaft, 4-wheel discs etc. Items I still need for the swap are headers and y-pipe.
I will dyno the 305 in stock form before the swap, and then dyno afterwards using the stock heads. I will not be getting new heads for the 305 since I will be swapping in a 350. But I do need suggestions on heads for the 350. I want to achieve around 380 HP at the flywheel with the 350. Since it is daily driven, running on stock 700R4 with 10-bolt rear, i dont need anything too wild just yet. Until the new rear and 6-speed come around, I'll obviously have to take it easy. The car will also never see a track. Thanks in advance for your opinions and suggestions

2 more weeks!
Well after getting everything I need for the swap, I realized I was missing a few piece here and there, nickel dime stuff really. Got my Ostrich, but laughed at myself when I realized I forgot the G1 and the ZIF. Also forgot the plugs that go into the 730' ecm, and the bracket for the 700-R4 kickdown. Everything is now ordered and on the way..even an extra 730' ecm (which will include the plugs) just in case I have issues. I'll try to keep everyone informed as I go. I'll have pictures of the swap after classes end for the summer in about 2 weeks.
