Has anyone done buisness with Intake Elbows? I just recieved a quote from Aaron, about an intake conversion. Pics on their website show quality work. Any input would be great. Thanks.

Interesting looking, I'll say that for them. Looks like decent workmanship, too. Prices seem pretty high though...

 

I have also recieved quotes from three other places. All of them were at least $125.00, or more, than Intake Elbows.

Hey, seems like they do great work judging by the pictures. I would give them a shot if I were in the market for a new intake.

 

I am wondering about them also for my lt1 build, this is what I have so far, but it requires a mustang throttle body, IAC conversion, and custom tps.. I have all those things done, but wonder if just going with intakeelbows.com with save me a few headaches with the stock throttle body..

I converted a VicJr overt to efi myself but dono if I want to make my own 90* elbow or not.

 

OK guys, thanks for the replies. I guess I will let everyone know how it goes. I plan on sending it out in a week, or so. I would imagine it will take a while, as they are in Utah, and I'm in the northeast. Travel time should be 10 days total, there, and back. Maybe I can post some pics when its done.

 

Ahh your having a intake converted. I thought you were just buyin the elbow.

No, I plan on getting bungs, and rails installed on a Super Vic. I would do it myself, but I really dont feel like messing up a perfectly good manifold. I would rather let someone who has experience with it. There is a pic of the intake at the end of this thread.

You deff can't beat the price they charge to convert an Intake. what TB is that your gonna be using. Ive been debating a TB like that with a bonnet on it or a 90* elbow and LS1 style TB.

 

Yes, I've seen your pics a few times throughout my searches. Very nice! That TB is an Accel 1350 CFM. I origionally wanted a 1200 CFM, but when I won the 1200, I was informed that they were on backorder. So I took the 1350 instead. I think it was a good choice, as it will be suppling air to a large engine.

No, actually its a three blade. Two primary blades, and one large secondary blade.

Thanks Yenko. I sent mine out to them a couple of weeks ago. According to the UPS tracking number, it should be here tommorrow. First I will double check the fit of the rails, and bungs, with a set of injectors, then I will post up a few pics.

The intake arrived today. Intake Elbows did a fantastic job on it. I am very pleased. The first thing I did was, trial fitted a set of injectors, to see if everything lined up. They lined up perfectly, and the welds are second to none. The intake runners are cleaned up also. I also set up the mounting bolts, to get a measurement on the size spacer I will need, so the linkage clears the standoffs. Now I have to get all the little things, like new fuel fittings, (mine are not the right size now), pipe plugs, etc. Here are a few pics of the converted manifold.

very nice intake...If your swapping out the SuperRam for that intake. Your gonna pickup a lot of horsepower. But i think you already know that.

 

Thanks Mike! Yes, the SR is on its way out. No way enough intake for a 436. No more PITA to work on, and more importantly, NO RESTRICTIONS! I can do away with my CAI, and the whole set up.

I was going to put a "Serious" solid roller in, but, I decided to just change the manifold, and keep the solid roller I have for now. I would hope to go from 118.5 MPH, to maybe 122, in the 1/4.

Back from the dead....but nothing yet....Im seriously behind on my car. Opening day was on April 7th, but i think it rained on it anyways. I plan on getting the car sorted out on the next week or so. Got alot of personal stuff going on. It did however go 120.21 with the SR on one of the last outings, though.

Finally got my butt out in the garage and got some work done. The old SuperRam is off, and the new converted intake is on. If I choose a small air cleaner for the street, I dont think the clearance is going to be too much of an issue. Might go with one of those Edelbrock foam, triangle, clamp on, cleaners for the street. For the track, I plan on adding a aluminum pan that will seal around the cowl hood. Now I just really got to get some AN fittings, so I can route the fuel lines neatly, adjust the valves, and throw the new plug wires on, get the wiring sorted out, and then comes the fun part....getting the prom properly tuned for this..Here are a few pics.

FYI...My brother used one of those triangle edelbrock filters on a 460 cid mustang he had. He didnt like it because it would almost suck the filter in when he reved it.

A couple of pics of the completed swap. I plan on hitting the track this Friday night. This will be my first time out this year.

 

Burned a chip last night, took it for a spin, and the MSD box took a crap. Then I also noticed my ET streets have some cords showing through. Looks like I might be getting out at the end of the season this year. Not worried bout the box, but I need new slicks, and right now money is really tight. Car does feel wicked though, but the clocks will not lie...I guess.

Yea, I noticed that. Also, some of the low end grunt is gone now that there is no more SR,...but man it really pulls in the higher RPMs. Im sure the car might even hook up a bit easier now.

Yea, Vern....if I can only find someone to lend me some DRs, or slicks for a Friday night. I bypassed the MSD, but the tires are the real issue. I was even going to go to the track with the street tires, just to see what kind of MPH she will lay down.

 

Swing on by Friday afternoon and I'll loan ya mine for the evening - provided you help me tune my MR set up a bit first...
