are these numbers possible?

is if possible to make around 500hp at the crank with 383 LT1 with proper heads, cam, and prom tune? would it have to be supercharged? if possible, how streetable would it be?

thanks

Re: are these numbers possible?

it is very possible.. nice high flow heads or deeply ported stockers, decent sized roller cam, ported intake, larger injectors, bigger throttle body and a good tune will get you there..

Re: are these numbers possible?

brodix IK200cc heads

this is with a carb, i would think an lt1 intake would need some minor porting to support the same number but i wouldnt think anything too intensive

568 at 6000 rpm
542 ft-lb Torque at 4700 rpm
Pulled the Engine to 6500 rpm
All on a Stuska Engine Dyno

Re: are these numbers possible?

This is from desktop dyno.
This is what I want down the road with more $ of course.

383 with LT1 intake
58 mm throttle body
1 3/4 headers with mufflers
AFR 210 heads
11.0-1 compression
292 xfi hr13 cam
522HP @ 6000 rpm
506Tq @ 4500 rpm

With the above would be streetable with a little tolerance.

If you went solid roller this thing would be insane!!!!

Depends on what you mean by streetable. Mine is streetable. Brakes work for about 2 stabs, it idles so-so, doesn't stall, etc. about 6-7 mpg tops in the city though.

Re: are these numbers possible?

i plan on mating this to a 6 speed. i just dont want it to be a pain in the *** to drive. it surely wont be daily driven however

hey anesthes, what made you choose the miniram intake? how much better is it? is it worth the cost?

the reason im going with LT1 is because it will be easy to put on a TPI motor; or the intake will already be on the car depending upon what year i get

Re: are these numbers possible?

Well, I have a Miniram which is kind of like the LT1. I just dynoed it last week, and the Mustang dyno said 381 RWHP, which is approximately 460 to 480 at the crankshaft.

The engine idles all day long, never goes about 186 degrees, and I got 18 MPG in the pouring rain on the highay drive home from the tuning shop. I get around 12 -14 around town.

So yes, streetable 500 BHP is possible. It'll take really good cylinder heads, a really good exhaust, a roller valvetrain, and lots of prep with stuff like oil pump selection, good windage tray, a crank scraper, etcetera.

If I redo my engine, I'll move to a solid roller cam to increase overall valve lift and reduce valvetrain mass, plus I'll bump my intake duration six degrees, then open the lobe separation angle to 114 degrees. If I can increase the rev range to 6700 RPM, I am sure I'll hit the 500 BHP mark.

We need to talk

What is your exact setup, and how do you keep it around 186 degrees? I can't keep mind under 220 with fans on full blast if i'm sitting still, about 205 driving.
