air intake? TPI system good or bad?
with my setup im just curious as to the air intake? Im currently using the stock TPI air intake system. Is that enough or not enough?
Is to much air a good thing? with my setup what should I be running?
thanks

i'm not sure on this one. I would think its alittle bit of a restriction just looking how the intake necks down over the radiator, even tho it widens, its still kinda small. i'm considering making a 3-3.5 inch CAI on my car

Seeing as you are still running the MAF I would say no. The inside diameter of the MAF is smaller than your CAI. By the way what is your manifold pressure at wide open throttle and at rpm?

how do I find out what the pressure is? will data logging show that?

Yes, data logging will show it and that is how I get my information. That will tell you if you have a restriction between the airfilter and the plenum. If you do then you need to find out where the restriction is.

Re: air intake? TPI system good or bad?
I thought there was someone on TGO with a maf that had good results with a modified air box. Doc was his name i think. The stock box is a good design but becomes a restriction on larger/higher horsepower cid motors.
I modifed my airbox and boot. I replaced the stock boot with a 4" peice. I opened up the box as much as i could, and still have it fit under the hood.
I dont have any before and after numbers but it made a noticable improvement on my setup. Its Speed density so no maf. I would do it again.

MikeH, I think this link is the one with my pics of my Mega MAF.
https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tpi/...stand-maf.html
For my MEGA MAF and airlid, I used 3.5" OD aluminum tubing and the appropriate rubber couplings. In the post above, I posted two pics, the first pic compares the MAFs, while the second pic conpares the airlids.
