miniram compared to tpi @ track

Friday was pretty much the last day the track was open, so i made up a rudimentary tune and went. My previous best with tpi was a 12.27 at 106. with the intake as the only change it went 11.95 @ 114. 60' fell from 1.56 to 1.59, but from there on i was very impressed with the power. mods are in sig, and all this is on the original bottom end. im sure there is more in it as i never changed the governor springs in my trans and it was shifting at 5700 rather then 6000 like i would want. im sure with a better tune and shift points an 11.80 @116 would be possible. but the miniram did give me 8 mph.

Re: miniram compared to tpi @ track

wow! nice pickup!

276hr14
that cam is on a 114 lsa right? looking at hr14 that is, as most 110's comp has are hr10 and the 112's go hr12.

Tighten that cam up on a 110 and you'll gain even more! 110 isnt that tight for that duration, it will love that on the miniram

nice times

Glad to see you put my old miniram to good use!

I'm looking over your bin. Just been busy with the house. I'll get back to you soon.

Good luck with the car. Sounds like a demon!

i used the bin i sent you. i made it run in open loop all the time to get rid of the popping. its actually a little rich, and i added a bit too much ae to it. im going to get a wideband and put it on a dyno, but i was in such a hurry to get everything together before the season was over that i had to guess at it. id say my guess was pretty good!

Re: miniram compared to tpi @ track

Very nice times can't wait to get my AFR heads on!!

That's quite the gain in MPH from the stock intake, wonder how a aftermarket longtube intake would compare.

Read the sticky post in the TPI forum "Quest for a better flowing TPI" and you'll see my results from a three different TPI swaps.

Congrats Matt on the huge gains!

Probably close ET.. Not as much MPH.

I spent a TON of time and money on a ported base, SLP runners fully ported, plenum, siamesing and all that.. With ONLY a swap to a singleplane intake it picked up 10mph..

That's not to say you cannot make power with the other combo - it was still fast, it will just never be as fast as a high flowing short runner intake.

Re: miniram compared to tpi @ track

Wow, forgot about this one. Digging around my old photobucket I found a few pics of some slips. Alot of them seem to be from the summer of '09. I have a pretty good memory when it comes to these things tho, so I'll go over it some. I went the 11.95 @ 114 in VERY good air obviously in early november. The following summer it was going consistent 12.0's @110-112. Never dyno'd it or even nailed down a good tune before I switched to the 110 LSA cam I have now. The results of that are documented here, but I gained 2 mph I believe, back near 114 in summer air. I went thru 4 ring gears in 21 days and ended up changing the timing curve to come in REAL slow. This slowed the 60' a bit and I also think it has some effect on the severe bog I was getting on the 2-3 shift. I never really nailed it down, only worked on making it consistent for bracket racing. Best pass it has seen, and I have no idea where the slip is, was a 11.94 @113 or 114 with a 1.52 60'. The ring gear broke for the last time the very next pass and I vowed to not return with the car until I've completely redone everything exactly the way I want. Paint, cage, rear, trans, wiring, plumbing, etc. Still unsure on the powertrain, but overall, I've been impressed with what I did on a budget with the stock bottom end and 3450 pounds.

This was during the summer, bracket racing. Not even sure why I took it, but must have been some significance at the time lol.

Have no idea here either, but a .003 bulb, 1.59 60' and 11.96 @113.8

This was bracket racing during the hot/humid summer. I remember this one. When I finally nailed down some consistency.

I think these were the first passes with the new cam. Old cam time slip from the week prior 1/8th mile race to compare.

I think that covers it lol

Re: miniram compared to tpi @ track

Its a vig. Supposed to be 3500 but its very tight. Only footbrakes to 1800. Flashes just a bit higher.

Re: miniram compared to tpi @ track

not suprised. i do think the miniram is the best all around intake for motors anywhere from 350-450 cubes for making power.....

this is a general statement. not best for all combo's but most.

seems like you picked up around 100 hp. lol.
