Smoke coming from HSR water outlet
I FINALLY got my 355, Trickflow headed, comp XFI268 cam, HSR running today. It started basically right up, but the problem I am seeing is white smoke is blowing out of the water outlet on the intake manifold. Now I haven't hooked up and of the accessories yet, including the coolant lines. I ran it up to about 200 degrees and began to see this smoke being pushed out of the coolant outlet below the TB. What could it be, as I would think the smoke would get sucked in if the intake gaskets weren't seated properly.

Re: Smoke coming from HSR water outlet
I'm not following you, you see smoke coming out a water outlet? Thermostat opening? Are you running the engine without coolant to run it up to 200F? ? If so, what you are seeing is steam and possibly other stuff in the water jackets smoking from getting very hot. If you want to just run the engine, at least pour some water in it..

Re: Smoke coming from HSR water outlet
Yea I figured its probably not the best idea but I was just waiting for my AC delete pulley to come in and couldn't help but fire it up. The smoke or steam is coming from the water outlet under the TB on the intake manifold I believe it connects with the heater control valve. I believe you're correct about the steam since it only did it once it warmed up. Thanks for the reply

May have already overheated it with no coolant going thru it. If the gauge reads 200, who knows what the hot spots were reading.
Dont rush into starting up a motor. Start and run it when ever you are ready to run it and everything its together.

Re: Smoke coming from HSR water outlet
I had cracked water neck do this to me, but that was with everything hooked up and coolant running through it. Never heard of anyone running an engine with the water neck and cooling lines not hooked up to the radiator..
