More flow

Hi guys,

I did some searching on here but couldn't find anything. I'm thinking about upgrading my Dart Iron 180cc heads to an aluminum 190-200cc head (maybe Dart Platinums, AFR, etc). My question is, given my HSR and combo in sig, would going from a 180cc head to a larger 200cc head affect my low/mid range throttle response? Particularly torque?

Thanks!

Re: More flow

When I was looking for heads and was looking at the dart heads I believe there own site stated that the 180's you have flowed as well as the platinums.

Re: More flow

Which 180CC heads are we talking here, because that makes a huge difference..

Re: More flow

Thanks for the replies, guys! My current Iron Eagle 180's seem ok but I was thinking I might get more out of my engine with a set of 195/200's. I'm just a little nervous about giving up any further low-end torque (since I gave up some low-end torque with my HSR).

IE are awesome heads. I went with the 200's. It's all in the application. People say "you'll lose all kinds of torque" but that's a load of crap. You won't lose anything if you just match your parts correctly.

Re: More flow

Thanks guys! Sounds like the 200's might be a better way to go. Delta, did you go with regular IE heads or the newer platinum's?

I went with the regulars. Platinums are great, but the old(er) 200's are awesome also. Like I said - just match your whole combo and you'll be fine. I'm running a XE274 / 1.6 RR's with my IE 200's with an airgap RPM and Quickfuel 750 for reference.. so not terribly far off from your current combination.

Re: More flow

I was told a long time ago by a man named John Lingenfelter to go for the cylinder head that has the best flow with the smallest intake runner (relative).
My opinion, AFR 180.
