That is hilarious... Looks great! Lots of room for a few nitrous nozzles or to put a spray bar in there too.
We all want to see some engine specs and dyno numbers!!

Re: My Variation on a Single Plane EFI
Nice welding.
I bet that either has crappy air distribution or great air distribution. At first I thought it might be problematic, but I think you have just enough overhang in the rear that it probably actually works better than a throttle body directly on the singleplane like mine. With that much plenum volume it probably responds very well on the street too.
Nice job!

Re: My Variation on a Single Plane EFI
Its not the prettiest but I'd bet it'll work very well!
Would have been nifty to bolt a cut up "fake" set of stock runners on each side just to mess with people.
Get that sucker on the dyno and show it off.

That looks like a great idea. Some of the cobra intakes look like that and they make good power.

Nice, that's similar to an intake I've seen before (from Car craft rse 95)...

Think of these two: LT1 has injector compensation for imbalanced air distro. Known issue; solved by programming. Runners are pulling off a hugely long plenum. Turbo Buicks can use a power plate to avoid rear cylinder overloading / lean conditions since they're boosted more than the front cylinders. Again, a fairly large, long plenum.
Now did he use a 2 x 4bbl tunnel ram to mod?

I like the clamps over the oil breather holes. Custom.
Also that article says that bird has a Vette IRS, and gets 30 mpg too.

Article only states tunnel ram. The guy is a marine welder by trade.
My phone doesn't take awesome pictures but, I still have the Car Craft the snippet is from...
(and yes, ONLY the 3rdgen got the color spread)

It's from the Real Street Eliminator Challenge. The T/A was beat on MPG buy a GN that averages 46.17mpg in the closed circuit course.

Re: My Variation on a Single Plane EFI
........ I don't have any dyno numbers yet ... every time I get the tune where I want to give it a go something else comes up ... lost the clutches in the posi unit and welded the spider gears to the cross shaft ... had to replace the diff carrier ... then lost the 3-4 clutch pack in the trans ... the breather hold-downs were a patch just to get back on the track ... kept blowing them out at 6500 rpm ... dang Chinese valve covers ... Current combo is 409ci with AFR heads , Comp solid roller , the power definitely moved up the rpm scale ... when I get the trans back in it'll have a 4000 stall converter up from 2800 ... here's another variation to see if smaller runners would help ... heard a lot of comments about plenum volume , but I think I'm still less than a Super Ram and my 8"-9" runners .........

Re: My Variation on a Single Plane EFI
......... Like this ? ....... the first version had plates that bolted over the port holes but the uneven distribution of screw holes caused it to leak ... I bolted on some fake runners to mess with people and to help seal the side covers ... since then I've just welded up the ports in the sides of the plenum ... makes a cleaner look ... most people don't even notice ...........

Re: My Variation on a Single Plane EFI
........ At full weight ... six speaker stereo , working A/C , and a trailer hitch on '87 vette and 2800 stall converter I was running 7.40's @ 92 mph eighth mile ... 60 foot times are up vs. the FIRST tuned port but I picked up nearly 4 tenths of a second overall with this intake and the switch from an XFI hydraulic to this street solid roller cam ......

I wonder how this would stack up against the HSR? Probably would be pretty close
