hsr fuel pump

well after more than 3 years I have my 383 HSR swap done. I got the sub frame in, new transmission, exahust, steering box and brace, suspension, ball joints, tie rod ends, ect ect ect.

I am trying to finally fire it up and now the in tank fuel pump wont fire after sitting all these years. The HSR came with a fuel pump. Can I just pull through the old one or do I have to drop the tank and pull it out? Just was hoping to avoid taking that exahust and everything apart to get there. UGH!!!! always a road block, nothing works first time.

Re: hsr fuel pump

U could do the trunk access hole but that involves cutting the floor hump in rear compartment of the interior, theres a aftermarket pump that works with it i believe the company is wilbro look into them an they sell around 80-100 bucks an have a 1 year free replacement

Re: hsr fuel pump

i heard that banging on the tank and get vibrations in the tank can get a fuel pump going that has been sitting for a while. So the only option is new pump if that does not work? You can not pull through and old one?

Did you check the relay and the fuse under the hood?

I'll do that tomorrow. The guy I was working with didn't show today. When I took the tip harness off I hope I didn't mess that up

If the pin out is the same as my 89 you can run a hot to pin g on the aldl and see if the pump runs. The fuse is near the battery, behind the headlight. One orange and one red wire.

Re: hsr fuel pump

Banged on the tank, put gas in it, and got the wires before the fuse and hooked it up directly. We have to bypass that relay I found out as the new wiring harness with the HSR has a seperate wire to trigger the fuel pump. The other wiring harness that I left on know I am wondering how many more electrical things are not hooked up in the dash ! Anyway fuel pump working thanks!

Good deal. Just take the time to rewire it correctly at some point. You don't want to be the guy running his fuel pump on a toggle switch.
