I spoke to EFI guy - very sharp! on this he kind of mirrored your thoughts but he did say it was able to be tuned VS. the old chip technology but he did say that was leading edge then but were in the now so much else is available now

Re: My Accel Super Ram install (info&parts needed)

I was looking at a small mini ratcheting box wrench for the underside of the plenum. I have the actual part number for the wrench at home. ...I'll be installing mine for the first time this spring too.

Re: My Accel Super Ram install (info&parts needed)

OK SR owners, I have a couple questions- are there any Valve covers that can be removed with the runners/plenum installed my engine currently has the stamped steel covers and i have a set of center bolt Vette magnesium covers that I would like to use. also will be running 1.6 Comp roller tip rockers wondering if any clearance issues with the Vette covers, I wouldn't think so since they are kinda like OE rockers not all out roller rockers.
I'd hate to get it all together and find out then

I have tall polished centerbokt valve covers and I have no issues removing them with the intake installed.

Re: My Accel Super Ram install (info&parts needed)

the super ram is a good intake to make power in the 2000 to 5500rpm ball park with the right cam and setup..its not the best above 6000rpm..but hay it's what I used back in the 90s..with that Said...

1. NO special tools needed.. ya can do it all with basic tools and your hands..(I did it in the 90s) no need to butcher the ram up...
2.this intake is only good to 5500RPM then falls flat on its face...no Matter how big you port the runners..(its fun to see guys port the thing to a size it will never use)
3.I used A fogger kit to get it to pull to 6500RPM. and that's after Lingenfelters set my car up with the biggest solid roller cam they used on there stage 5. 383 upgrade.
4. lingenfelters did my ECM and chip back in 91/92. and tuned the car..trans..gears...Exhaust.. 11.70s with foot brake...10.50s with NOS and foot brake..
5. it was the last small block to make it in my car...
6. now for somthing completely DIFFERENT!!..
7.Aluminum Big Block chevys past 600 cid..that's the ticket!! to a fast street car with power windows!!
and power steering....

Re: My Accel Super Ram install (info&parts needed)

Arctic, the SR is perfect for 383 street torque monster I'm after thanks for your input, like I said your old setup looked awesome but I have to say I'm out on 600 inc BBs those are way out of my league!
My next thinking turns me to my fuel supply system, supposedly the fuel pump is bad so a tank drop is in order and I have picked up a new Delco pump and was wondering if this is adequate for the upgraded 383 with SR or if I need a bigger 255lph pump and upgraded wiring?
seems like I see so many third gens with dead pumps its not even funny - what do Y'all think?
