Por-15

We cleaned & painted my engine bay on Saturday. It came out great. We used the POR-15 three step process.... Degrease, Metal Prep and paint.

Here's some pics....

Before:

After: (not quite done)

It's dry now and looks just great. The pics don't do it justice.

You gotta get us pics when the paint dries. Cuz it looks like the original color is peaking out everywhere in small spots in that pic. If it is peaking out everywhere, paint it again!

Thanks. I'm real happy with the results.

It's in my sig... L98 from an '86 Corvette with free mods & minor bolt-ons (headers, etc.) is going in a few weeks (hopefully) from now. We're just going to detail it & keep it mostly stock. It's enough engine for me, as-is.

obviously it isn't done yet , we took that picture at the end of the day but there's still a plenty of spots left that need attention

POR-15 comes one way only. You'd thin it for spray.

This was brushed on, it flows out so well you really need to look very hard to see any brush marks. If fact, it's hard to even see any. IMO, spraying uneven and tight areas like this might be more hassle then it's worth.

Spraying it meant masking the rest of the car, etc. so we tried brushing it. I'm happy we did. It came out really great. When we do the underside on the unibody, we might spray the large areas then just because it's relatively flat and nothing would really need masking so it'll save time.

I never knew por-15 was that glossy, looks good Edzz. I was thinking about painting my wheel wells and under body with it.

I just got finished painting my engine bay also. I used Eastwood under hood black though. No pics yet. I took everything out of the engine bay, the brake booster, cruise control servo, droped the fuel and brake lines... All I masked was the holes in the firewall. I went through 4 1/2 of the 12 oz spray cans. A lot more than I thought I would.

A new GM L98 is going in there with ported l31 heads and an lt4 hot cam.
