Wait about 6 to 8 weeks before putting wax on from the time it came out of the paint booth. You have to let the paint vent for it to cure properly.

I have always used the Zaino products ( www.zainobros.com ) on my cars. I was told by the owner of Zaino to wait 7 days before polishing. I have done this with two new paint jobs with no problems.
I now use a product called Duragloss ( www.duragloss.com ). It applies feels and looks like Zaino. It gives the same results as Zaino but it is a lot cheaper and can be found at many local part stores. I have found it at CarQuest, Advance Auto and some NAPA stores.
Either product will do an AWESOME job on you car.

It might be different for the duragloss though since they contain different stuff in them. Since Zaino has no silicones, abrasives, or caranuba wax it might be fine to polish after 7 days. However duragloss does have silicones, abrasives and waxes that might not agree with the new paint job if polished in just 7 days...

what grade of sand paper did you use, and did you just soak it in water or what???
First I used 1000, then I went to 1500, it all depends in how bad is the orange peel on your paint is. You have to soak the sand paper for a few minutes and keep the paint always wet, using clean water. The 3M perfect it III high cut compound will do it for the 1500 sand marks but you can always go 2000 or like my friend 3000

The reason why it looks so foggy is from wet sanding, it takes the shine away until you polish it out. Gab, I did the same as you 1000grit 1500 and then 2000 grit and polished it out with my dewalt buffer.I still have a half a bottle of my 3m rubbing compound and polishing compound. I love how good my car looks now
it makes me feel even better when I can say I did all my body work and painting myslef.

Wetsanding creates a mirror type finish.
I like Meguiars Products, step 1-3 works well for a cheap price. Also the easiest stuff to take off I've ever tried.

MARK,
So to polish after wetsanding, you just used the meguires 3 step. What about the whole using a buffer process. Can you just apply the polishing compounds and buff them out by hand, or do you need to use a buffer?
I've heard, and seen horror stories of burnt paint from using a buffer incorrectly. I CAN'T buff yet.
Can you polish it effectively by hand?
Thanks,
Jesse
