Hey "redraif" is this your car??
I was scrolling through TacRev.com and I noticed somthing...
Is this your car in the background? If so how did the show go? It looked like there were a lot of awsome cars there!
Here is the page I found it on:

I can't tell if that's her car or not....but it doesn't look like either of them have the upside down 4th gen spoiler in the back, or the 4 square pipes coming out the middle under the plate....

Yup, Bill that's redraif's car alright with the black g/fx and stuff, I think. I wasn't at that show, so I don't know how she did though. That T/A to her right is awesome too; I'm a sucker for 4th gen spoilers... and no, she doesn't have an upside down 4th gen spoiler in the back. The car is all thirdgen!
And yes, redbird, that car's awesome! Although, I'd go with Sunset Orange, myself!

Edit to my last post...if you look really close, the "black gfx" is shadow, and it looks like the upside down spoiler in the back...and the window...there is a hint of red tint, but I dunno if she changed it or if its black at certain angles or what, but now that I look REALLY hard, it does look like her car, but I'm still not fo sho.

Dat would be my little beastie.
The magic of mirror tint is that it is like a Chameleon in different light. The tint looks black at certain angles.
Yes the spoilers were on and the exhaust was there. It was just in shadow. They are 3rd gen spoilers actually. The only cross breeding I did was red Camaro seatbelts, and the clear front turn signal mod. I used some 80s sedans clears and grafted them to the front of our signals.
Disturbed thanks for the compliments on the car.
I know its a 2.8, but the engine has somehow always remained imaculate, even though it gets driven everyday. (140,000+ miles)I did quite a bit to dress it up and now we swapped the compartment to black with chrome, red and candy apple red accents. This was all done while we did maintainance on it bit by bit. I came together quite well. Looks better than most 8s I see. The 2.8 has the coolest looking plenum.
TheWraith: It will have an 8 soon. At shows its not supposed to matter. Its more how you present it and how clean it is. Believe me I'm not proud it only has a 6, but the 6 has performed well until recently. At the end of the show season, it will be swapped.
The results of the show: I got 2nd in the heavy modified/custom class. There were 3rd gens and 4ths mixed in the class. Turns out I lost points for not having a first aid kit in the car. I took the darn thing out and had it in my tool bag not 10 ft from the car. Oh well. Someone said there were 14-15 in the class? The winner was an Anniversary bird.

Here is the engine compartment
We polished the alternator, master cylinder, plenum, belt tensioner, AC canister & exhaust manifolds (now coated). I have polished res. for the wiper fluid and radiator fluid.
Chrome accents are the Master cylinder res lid, power steering res cap, breathers, & AC compressor wrap.

hey redraif.
You said you are changing to a v8. What are you going to get?
and what are your plans for the mods to it?

Redraif, I'd like to give you a thumbs up for not getting defensive when someone has a negative comment on your ride. Most people would. Your car shows a lot of creativity and hard work. That should be respected regardless of engine size. Some should keep their negative comments to themselves and show some respect to others. Nice job.
P.S. I especially like the headlight mod.

bluegrassz: That's top secret.
Lets just say its a Chevy motor. Its in the 350 family, but its different enough that will surely get attention at the shows. We plan to port it, cam it, headers, exhaust, the usual performance stuff. Plans are 400 at the rear wheels. Shooting for 12s on motor & 11s with NOS. Its not going to be a track car though, shaved handles and all. Lets just say it will have enough power to back up its looks.
Nope not an LT1.

Thanks Tim. I'm learning it does no good to get all hot and bothered over it. People are going to think what they want, and some are going to be nasty about it. That's life.
Hopefully you will get to see the car for yourself soon. Chris said it surprised him how the pictures don't come close to capturing the car's true look.
Well, I'll be at the Gathering this weekend in Marietta, GA. So anyone who wants to see RAIF in person, come on over for the car show.

let us know when you get it done.
Not only does it look better in person than in the pics, but it REALLY shines at night while moving. In the parking lot as I was following the RAIF, the side marker lights and wheels really set off the car! I took a ride in it last weekend and I was sold. Thing handles like it's on rails! Outran a certain fourth gen Camaro... and my V8 T/A too, but my excuse is I was stuck behind the 'Maro... and didn't know the pitch black twisties as well as Raif's driver, heh, heh.
Later,
Chris
P.S.
Told you guys it wasn't a fourth gen spoiler. No one listens to me!

GOOD GRAVY How could anyone have out modded their bird? I would have given you first place. I really like the look of your car. Very cool stuff you have going on there. You showed everyone how far you can take a firebird and still keep the craftsmanship! I applaud your efforts and creativity with your car.
Many people dawg v6 owners, Raif, imagine the responce I get with my 4 banger IRON DUKE firebird. Yes I've taken it to shows and I have the hood wide open! I don't care what others think about it. I have restored the car myself and added personal touches (not near as many as yours
). I would say that my 84 Firebird looks much better than alot of the v6 and v8 birds in my town. Many of them aren't taken care of.
Well that is my two cents worth.

Thanks, Bill. I'm glad you are restoring your bird. It looks good. Too many of them are just let go. Everythie we got to the junkyards, there are more trashed birds and camaros. They only keep them 45 days and there are always a minimum of 10-15 there. Mostly 2.8s. Makes getting odd 2.8 parts easy for me though.
I think I got beat out more because it was a cleaner less driven car than mine. See I don't think they use mods to judge, I think they use them to catagorize. Heck, they had the mustang Cobra Club judge it. What do they know about 3rd gen mods? That and there is so much available for 4th gens. Its really hard to compete against them. Mine is about as clean as a daily driver can be, but there are some paint flaws that get me. The paint is a mix of new (where it was shaved and the hood) and 5 year old paint. There are a few scratches where the car got vandalized that I need to repair, and the front nose and ground effects got spidered at a car show in TN when some jerk at a resturant backed into my car.
Story time:
Would you believe he was going for a parking space? Someone decided to leave and he was in such a hurry to get he space he backed up w/o looking. I saw the whole thing. I had let my boyfriend bring the car around. I was super sunburned and just did not want to go out in the sun to get it. The guy got out of the car and said he was following too close. Following too close does not cut it when one car is stopped dead and the other backs into it. He offered us $20 bucks for the repair. I thought a fight was going to break out. The drivers 30 year old son go in my boyfriend's face and said it was existing damage and he wanted proof it was not there before it was hit. We about went to get a show official to back up the cars previous condition. Thank goodness I had already been judged. The resturant owners called the cops. He just could not fathom my car bing hurt and his not. See his licence plate and bottom of his bumper is mostly what hit my car. We all know how easy it is to spiderweb our bumpers. The cop sorted it out and his insurance paid for it.
Since the car really needs a whole repaint and we are thinking about candy aple red I decided to wait on the repair. Its not all that noticible, but its still there. I just hated the idea of stripping the front bumper and going back to the same color and then having to do it all over to go to candy. So my paint could not touch a new or trailered car's paint, but for a daily driver its excellent. Still has great tone and shine to it.

Hey, I was looking at the pic again and I think its the white 4th gen in the left hand courner that won my class. You can see the blue anodized rims. I remember when they announced it they said anniversary bird. Though it is odd he was in my class. Most people leave the anniversary birds alone.

Man, I wish our junkyards round here had 10-12 camaros and/or birds in them. The 3 around here said they haven't had any 3rd gen cars in like 4 months, which is a good and bad thing. Good cuz that means people round here aren't trashing/wrecking them, but bad cuz I could use some parts, mainly RS signs, motorized trunk, and a new left tail light, but I could go for a crappy rebuildable 3.4 to do the 2.8 to 3.4 swap boogie thing in the tech articles.
