I got a california duster for my birthday, the large model and it was deff. worth the $10. Every morning before I leave i do a 60 seconds swipe of my car and it looks like i just washed it. I bet the smaller model would work just as good, but this thing is great. I dont know what is on it, but its been working for over 2 months now, its amazing

I love mine! Our school makes us park in a dirt/dust parkinglot and i use it for a quick "bath" to help keep the camaro dignity! The smaller model is a dash duster, i believe... it works just as good! hug the man who invented it.

 

I love mine too, keeps the "newly waxed" look longer

 

Its great for car shows. Wash at home and drive to the show and dust of the evidence. The dash one works very well on the interior.

 

Do they put anyting special on the clothe or anything on it, it smeels sorta weird and i keep it in the package they sold it in just incase

They do treat them with something. Thats why there are specific washing instructions. I think it is an oil of sorts. It attracts the dust. Knocking it out seems to keep it from building up too much gunk. Honestly I've heard the dirtier it is the better it works. Pollen season really gives mine a workout.

There was an insert in the packaging that came with mine. I think it was in with that. I will have to check when I leave work.

:hail:california car duster!!i use mine after it rains,then i go to my Meguires spray detailer and i have the cleanest car in town!best combo for when the car doesnt need to be washed,but does need to be cleaned.

 

I droped mine in the gravel one time, so I washed it in the sink with just water, and ran my hand through it, let it air dry

 

the more dirt that gets on them the better they work.I don't know why but i am not complaining

 

Anyone know where to buy one of these things in Canada? I have to park behind our garage in the back ally, and its gravel and sand i think. When cars go down the alley fast - thus creating dust, it goes on my car and i have a thick *** coat of dust on my car 8(((( somone help please lol.

That thing is awesome, especially for pollen and dust. I just put mine in the washer, though the cloth parts are still dark, at least it's clean.

It's wax, and for you boneheads who didn't read the instructions (hehe, j/j on the boneheads), you're supposed to let it sit overnight wrapped in a newspaper so soak out the excess wax.

Obviously, that'll strip the wax out of it, and it specifically says in the instructions not to do that.

 

I went and bought it!! I read the label and it says NoT to wash it, the dirtyer it gets, the more cling it has! It didnt say anything about leaving it in newspaper first, but it DID say to wipe a cool surface first before using it on the car, so I used the kitchen tabel, lol.

Well, I went out and used it on my car which had a thick coat of dust on it from the back alley, about 1/16 - 1/32" thick of dust, THIS THING WORKED FAWKING AWSOME!!!!
Used it on my dusty interior too! AWSOME! Worth EVERY pennie!

I wouldn't want it dirty, no matter how well it works. That's just extra dirt trapped under there that could build up and scratch the paint. It still seems to work great for me.

So should I wax it?

If you really want to wash it, go for it.. just get parafin wax and put it back on the brusher thingie... i found it sometimes still leaves tiny swirlies on my car no matter how lightly i dust... oh well, works for me!

I bought mine last summer and that thing is awesome.when i first bought it i was a little nervous about it scratching the finish but i havent had a problem yet and it saves alot of time........

 

I've had mine for a touch over two years now. I use it all the time and it works everytime.

It does have Parafin wax as was mentioned before. That's the strong smell you get when you first open the package. I laid mine on newspaper for 24 hours and the wax bleeds off onto the newspaper. If you skip this step you'll get streeks on your paint. Also when using this product..... Remember you are dusting not buffing with it. I let the hairs of the duster do the work and I think it mentions this in the instructions as well.
If you lay the entire duster on your car it will tend to streek if it's still fairly new. I found this out through trial and error.

As I've said above I've had mine for two years now and have never washed it. The only place that is still red is the upper portion which never touches the car, the rest of the duster is BLACK from normal use in the past two years.

Living in the desert with wind gusts ripping by at up to 60mph we get alot of dust and everything else on our car but the duster always comes out "shining"

A great product and the best $20 (for the 2 pack) you'll spend on your car.

 

I went to a car show today in victor Ny at the finger lakes race track and i would have to say 1 out of 4 to 5 people that i saw detailing their car after they pulled in, took out a california duster, its just plane out awesome

If you uh, let's say, forgot to do the whole newspaper thing and used it for the past, say, 5 months, is it too late? I still get them funky streaks! It's annoying..

 

Finally found the instructions on cleaning. They said its treated with parafin wax and if you feel it needs to be washed to use cool water and Woolite. Its a mild detergent for those that don't know. I guess its gentle enough to not strip out the wax, but still washes out the excess dirt. The cool water will keep the wax from heating up and melting off the duster.

I've been using mine for 2-3 years and had great luck. It hasn't scratched the car yet. Not washed it yet either.

Mine works great. Had it for 6 months and it is DIRTY! Still takes all the Arizona dust off of my car quickly. I just laid mine on a newspaper for 48 hours before the first use and only had streaks for the first few times. Have not washed it yet, but with all the dust here I might. If you get streaks, just use a soft cloth to wipe them off.

 

for 10$ you cant beat it, and i havnt seen another product like it

i'd be careful how you clean it, might take the chemicals out of it. read the instructions or look on the website or somthing
