Some thoughts on rice-ness
Ok, I just picked up a set of strobe lights to put in the front turn signals. I'd also like to eventually put a set of undercar neons on.
I'm just wonder as to your thoughts on how far is too far towards rice.

No, the storbe lights are tiny and go into the back of our front turn signals. They would only be on at cruise nights and shows. I figure it's something different to set me apart and get attention.

But since you asked, my opinion on neons is I like them if you can't see the bulbs. And strobes I don't like too much, but I don't hate them either.

Meh, I say it's your choice...neons, as with anything, can be done well or look really tacky...it's all in the execution. Around here, the cops are starting a large crackdown....$110 per neon accesory, mufflers that are purposefully too loud (ie - fart cans), stereo systems, etc....too bad there's no law against silly-looking stickers...
Hey Cruz-n I say go for it strobes look awesome and so do underglows as long as they are done right. Let me know how the strobes in the parking lamps go because I want to do that to my Z. Be careful not to turn the strobes on when you are going down the road because the cops will jump on you in a heartbeat. The cops in my area are pretty relaxed about most car mods. I accidently flipped my strobes on my truck on once though and a cop saw it and hunted me down and luckily he just gave me a warning. It is consider a federal offense- Impersonating an emergency vehicle.

Yeah, If neons go on they'll be hidden for sure. Cops hate neons around here, but I don't think they can do much if there not on when driving.

I don't care for strobes too much. But at the Carlisle show there were some cars with it, just don't go over board. I like the under neons too.

I don't care for any of that crap. If your car needs that stuff to draw attention to it, maybe you should rethink whether it belongs in a show to begin with.
Then again, I guess it depends on whose attention you're trying to get. If you want some bling-bling pimpleheadded pizza boy to come over and start showering you with compliments like "that's mad phat Yo!" and "I bets you gets all the bizzzitches wit dat phat assed ride!", then I'd say go for it. If you're trying to attract a more mature crowd, then you'll need a different approach.

I know plenty of mature adults that think strobes and underglows look good, not just "bling bling pimple-headed pizza boys". You can go overboard with too many lights, but a strobe behind each parking lamp is far from overboard.

Strobes, ... well lets just put it this way .. If your in a room full of people that are going way out of their way to try to be different, yet you are normal.. chances are that being normal you would be the only true individual amongst a pack of...... ( insert your word to describe everyone else... ricers, posers. ..etc )

Strobe lights, no dont do it. Neons are nice as long as you nice exhaust and its clean under your car and you are at a car show with mirrors under the ride displaying your exhaust. Other wise why dont you invest your money into something like speakers or a in car DVD\TV\PS2 ?

I have a full system in my car. I wouldn't spend money on Tv...etc. cause I'm in my car to drive it not watch Tv. The only reason I would get a set of neons is cause I can get a full set for $189 Canadian.

i hate seeing cars ESPECIALLY fbodys with all those TVs, DVDs, and playstations in them
save the visuals for your gas guzzling SUVs and minivans
the reason so many show cars have those nice necessities is far more than show; ever sit at a show for 12 hours straight.......it's nice to have entertainment........
too many people on this site have a set mind and mental picture of what one should do.......it's not right.
i say go for it, just be careful how you drill your holes as the plastic is rather hard and can split if your not careful. parkinglights are expensive, taillights are rediculous.
also, if you do the taillights go for the reverse lights as they will show up alot nicer than the brake lights.
good luck!!

I had a BIG strobe light system in the 87 T/A when I had it though, but for a different effect.
It was a flat pannel strobe custom made from 4 strobes for a security system, complete with a power converter that was wired directly into the alarm system. Whenever the alarm was armed, the strobes would arm. Anyone who set the alarm off became one BIG step closer to being epileptic.
Honestly, it was a HUGE lightning show INSIDE of my car, and No one ever stole it , just for the fact the car is much harder to drive when you cant see
Only for security, not for show. Plus it was set fast enough to make a person puke.

You're the one with the flames and the torque thrusts, right?
Beautiful.
Now THAT would be the way to get attention at a car show.
Neons are borderline, strobes would definitely make me think "domestic rice."
