What Would You Do? Car Washing
Since I got another car, I don't drive my IROC but once this week. Sitting there it gets dirty from dust/dirt in the air. Some times birds crap on it, but I'll just wipe it off with a wet cloth. Still leaves some mess behind. The CAL Duster works great but the car isn't totally clean.
Would you wash it often to keep the car clean, or wait till you konw you're going to drive it and then wash it?
Is it damaging to the paint? Right now I'm having it parked in the shade out of the sun.

I would, but with what I owe on the new car, plus I have some other things I have to spend money on first, I can't really afford it.

If it was my car, i would wash it every other day. Heck, this morning i woke up and noticed a bird left a big spot on my hood. So i got up and washed it before work. I was 15 minutes late for work, but my car is spotless
I think the shade has its pros and cons.
Pro=no sun will save the paint and interior pieces from fading.
Con=birds will def. use it for a toilet.
Anyways, my .02 is keep the car clean.

I usually try to wash my car once a week or if I know I'm going out. Because I drive the Sunfire to work, the IROC sits there most of the time. My suggestion is to wash it once in a while or if you're gonna be taking her out for a cruise. It will be better than leaving the dust and dirt on the paint for extended periods of time...some dust, because of pollution today and such, can be acidic and wreck the finish over time.

My IROC's the same way Mark. Last summer I use to whipe it off everytime it rained and got dirty.
This year, I only washed/whiped it down when I was taking it out. Well I went to a car show yesterday, and since the water marks have been sitting on the paint for a week and a half, it took me forever to get them out
I think ill stick to cleaning it often. Maybe its just a black thing.

Keep It clean Mark coz if you don't I recon you won't sleep at night!
Acid rain, rotting leaves, bird*,water marks R a bitch to polish off.
Just wondering if you have used "cavity wax" in your panels?

CAVITY WAX, sorry Mark maybe you guys call it something else but its a sort of wax that you can paint, pour or spray into your panels(inside doors, seams, 1/4 panels etc).
It gives you inner panels a waterproof coating that helps resist rusting so you can wash your car "till the cows come home" as we say so you don't have to worry about rust from washing all the time.

Bird droppings definitely needs to be cleaned off ASAP.The digestive acids will stain the clearcoat easily.
Mark,
Try your very hardest to afford a car cover, even if it's a cheapo non Camaro specific one. Even in the Uk the (little) sun we have fades red badly, and I have just spent 60 mins polishing out watermarks on the hood that are less than 36 hours old.
Cavity wax we call "waxoyl" here. It's generally used in wetter/colder climates. Essentially it's a thinned down wax product that you spray under the car, and in the door/body/hood/trunk cavities to repell water.
I keep mine under the cover if the car is not used for more than two days, and /or it's not going to rain. (So that makes a total of about 358 days under the cover!)
