is this a good deal?

i have no clue where to post this so i figured this forum gets the most responses, so i'd post it here!

1989 checvy camaro iroc z28, 5.7 tpi, t-tops, auto, black with grey int, 83k. $3,500. does this sound like a pretty sweet deal? i haven't actually seen then car yet, so i dont no what kind of condition it is in, the owner says it has straight body but could use a paint job, but no rust. i can
get paint a job for 200$ my uncle owns his own body shop and does it for me as long as i pay for materials. I am looking for a nice car for about 3,000$!

Don't think they made 350 T-tops back then, but if it is true a 3rd gen with under 100K miles for $3,500 is a really good price

If it has a 5.7 TPI in it and that checks out that and a straight body sounds like a deal to me.

i have an 89 IROC with both the B2L RPO and the CC1 RPO indicating a 350 with ttops, they were made. Is this a rare combo then, i have heard others say that most say it doesnt exist but i have the codes for it.
later

Unless that car has sub-frame connectors, the 350's torque will probably end up in the T-Tops leaking like crazy because of the unibody frame. Must not be an original 350 if you ask me, but i would be more worried about the t-tops leaking then the originalness

I think the 5.7 outbalances the t-tops. I wouldnt care about leaking.

maybe if the motor has work done to it... stock i dont think so, the only way it would leak is just because of rotting or w/e u want to call it.

Yeah the only years that camaros with 350's didn't have T-Tops were 91-92 camaro Z28's. T-tops are a dime a dozen, in Iroc 350's from the factory. I know cause I have a 1989 Iroc with a 350 with T-tops. Also the later L98's are only rated at 245-250hp stock, thats not really enough power to tweak the frame.

I dont know why everyone says that the 350 ttops leak without subframes. I have an 88 IROC 350 with ttops and no subframes. The engine just has some basic mods and my tops do not leak. The seals even look original. Does anyone have the number of IROC 350 with ttops made for each year? Did GM even keep track of that stuff? TL

dacuma i don't think it's the 235 stock rated HP that would tweak the frame but rather the 340 stock ft/lb's of torque

on a side note - why do our f-body cars have such a huge gap between the hp and torque ratings? my 89 gta still pulls fast at 85mph for passing but i would think we'd get more hp from the factory to go with the torque =/

camshaft, head design, emissions etc...all played a factor, but we can overcoem that.

listen to him he's smart, u over come those and you will gain more hp than torque b/c the torque was already there..... i still dont think that a stock 350 as a daily driver would make the t-topes leak... but i may be wronge, happened before, will happen again.
