if you want to drive it, go to a junk yard and find the biggest piece of **** you can find and put it on a 4x4 frame then you wont ruin a decent or good looking thirdgen. and if your serious u have major problems

Okay....I guess I should be a little more specific.

I WOULD NEVER BUILD ANYTHING LIKE THAT. IF YOU DO IT'S A TOTAL DISRESPECT OF THE F-BODY.

WHAT I MEANT WAS....I WOULD LOVE TO DRIVE IT. GET A LITTLE OFF ROAD ACTION OR MAYBE EVEN CRUSH SOME FORDS OR IMPORTS.

Are we all okay with this now?

That would actually be pretty good for rock crawling and such. Since it isn't as top heavy as a jacked up pick up or something. It's ugly as sin, but probably pretty fun.

Alright, I'll be the minority.

I think it looks kinda cool. It appears nicely done, not like that *** awful looking one on eBay a whole back with the frame well below the body. It looks like a giant Hotwheels mutant. There was an old Kyosho R/C car similar to that except it was a 'vette. It really looks like a giant toy. Works for me.

Besides, there are sillier looking thirdgens around.

Got a video camera. Pleaze tell me you do and you can get a tape of this thing in action! If not get a tape from him. I'm sure he has one. This is what you do. Get a TV tuner card for your pc for 30-40 buck and record from the VCR to you computer.

how is it "hillbillyish, hickish, or *******" ???if it was any of then, it would be a old rusted out POS chevy, ford, or dodge pick up with a stock motor, stock suspension, a cheap homemade lift kit, and stock wheels and tires...not to mention a confederate flag somewhere on there and a gun rack. that trans am is actuly done ncely. id drive it! it looks like it was built with some thought put into it. it doenst look like ****, and im sure it does whats its made for. hell for all we know that trans am could have been in perfect shape....or the frame could have been rotted out and he wanted to bring back the TA in somekind of life form. or maybe he just loves f bodys so much that he wants to take it EVERYWHERE....im sorry but, I LIKE IT!

When you take the hatch of Thirdgens, you esentially have a shortbed El Camino. I hate seeing cars turned into monster trucks with the exception of the Fiero Jalapeno 4 x 4 and VW beetles. I have seen beetles turned into just about everything. I like offroading in VW dune buggies with the fat sand tires or a Sandrail.

It would be... interesting to drive. Think about it? You'd be able to go all over, but instead of sitting up in your seat like in a truck, you'd be low to the floor. It'd be like offroading blind. Heh.

How do they exactly do that? Blazer frame? I had the idea of making a thirdgen like a 4x4 with that frame and all. The thing is though put like our regular size tires on it and do the stuff to lower it. You could have all wheel drive Do you think the weight of the frame would make it not worth it? I know it could be done cause a friend of mine had a 4x4 truck and he used a different transfer case to make it all wheel drive I believe.

I really doubt you could get it down to a normal ride height. You'd need some kind of diff in the front end under the engine. That'd be tough to hide under a stock-looking f-body.

I'm trying to be diplomatic here, it's not what I would do, but not everyone understands what I do, either. I have my RS, which I love, and a Ford (yes, I said that) F-150 4x4, which I beat the wee out of :lala: Each has its purpose; one is nice and well cared for, the other is rusty, dented, used and abused (but mechanically maintained). I guess I just don't understand

I personally don't like the idea of a 4x4 thirdgen but think the idea of my camaro being 4wheel drive like some of the turbo porches is cool but not worth the time or money to invest in. I'm pretty sure if our cars could come with AWD we would all want it because we know it would make our cars that much more bad @ss when racing.

Yeah your have a point. I forgot all about that front axle. Only way I could think of clearance would be use a lt1 engine or intake and a nice size cowl hood to raise the engine a bit. That would be pretty getto though and not worth the hassle. Nice thing about a blazer frame though would be its a solid frame. Now you got me thinking since its a solid frame you could do a IRS.. Sorry tonight im just finishing up my lt1 intake project and in good mood. Now im full of ideas...

Adapting IRS to a Blazer frame would probably be tougher than hiding a diff under the front of an f-body. lol You'd need some kind of subframe for the lower arms, not to mention the driveline. I suppose the rear end could be lifted fron a 'vette or something, but then there's gearing to consider, plus it's not exactly an off-road rear end.

I was thinking more along the lines of stealing the front end from a 4wd S-series truck (like my lil Jimmy, or the S-10 Blazer) and getting the 4wd S-10 V8 oil pan to make some room. It'd still sit kinda high, and you'd probably have to scrap the torsion bar setup from the truck and use the struts from the car, but what the hell, it's an idea.
