Depending on how bad the rust will be to fix, I would say sounds like a decent deal. I would try to talk them down some though. 5.7L 3rd Gens around here go for at least $3500 with more miles than that.

If you don't know much about cars I'd suggest buying a car free of problems if it's goin to be your daily driver. If it weren't for my brother I wouldn't have been able to have the IROC as mine when I did.

The rought idle could be multiple problems. Dirty injectors, clogged cat, in need of a tune up, vacuum leak and i"m sure others.

Yeah, check it all for rust.. cause I doubt the underbody will be rust free if the wheel wells have rust. If its minor, it can be fixed. And if the rest is in good shape, I'd go for it.

Like said above, if there's rust in the fenderwells, then I'm sure there's rust somewhere else too. Our cars have a problem with rust on the flooboards, along the sides and in the back under the trunk (if you can call it that). As for the rough idle, that could be from a few things. It could be a little as the plugs need changed to possibly a knock in the engine that makes it sound like it's running rough. I'd go look at it first and see for yourself (you can never trust an ad). If it needs work, and you're willing to spend the time and money to work on it, make a low offer. Then if they don't accept, call them back in a week and see if the car is still for sale (chances are it will if it needs work) and see if they will accept that offer, or you can offer a little more.
Hope this helped, if you have anymore questions, feel free to ask.
