How should I mount my tach?

How is everyone else mounting there tach.

I bought a autogage tach with shift light, and I am in the process of installing it. I was wondering were would be the best place and way to mount it. Its going in on a 92 camaro dash by the way.

Keep in mind, I dont want to make holes in the dash pad.

post pics of your tach.

thanks.

I did do a search, but everything was either mounted under the a/c vents or on the a-pilar. Besides most of the pics would not load up for some reason.

I was wondering if one could be mounted to a bracked thats mounts under the dash, but lets the tach be above the dash pad.
So it would be in plain view and be able to see it form the outside.

I like the shift light in the lighter hole look, but I dont want to make a custom plate or get rid of my factory gauges.

I was just wanting to see if someone had came up with something new.

Maybe I can come up with something, and maybe post some pics.

There aren't many places to mount it besides the A Pillar or under the vents.
I'll tell you one thing though, you could mount it in the hatch area and still see the light go off. That thing is bright. At nite the car fricken lights up.

Im wanting to mount my tach a little higher than were you have yours. Do you think I could use the screws that hold the dash pad on right above yours and use some kind of bracket? You know around the lighter is were I would put the bracket.

Mark.

Glad to know that the light is bright, Because I will be running at the track. I guess I could unplug it when Im not at the track so it dont blind me when im on the highway.

Does the tach make a blind spot for you, since its on the a-pilar?

I mounted mine above the a/c vents or on the Dashpad.. id take a pic but my car is @ the Body Shop......... I just used longer bolts and went basically right into the a/c vents.
P.S ure going to need a new dashpad after if you ever take it off

i dont think it will mount where the lighter is becuz u need alot of room behind the tach to mount it. mine sits almost flush with the ac vents and the top of the tach.

Not at all. Since it's mounted low on the pillar it's not in the way. Just position it there by hand, so you can see for yourself. It's almost resting on the dash.

Im wanting to make like a [_] bracket thats comes up over the dash to and mount the tach on top of the bracket. Maybe I can attach the bracket just above the lighter to the dash pad screws.

I want the tach above the dash pad.
