GM Performance competition valve covers

Has anyone ever polished those cast aluminum covers? The ones with the raise bow tie and Chevrolet one them. I was thinking about trying it, I personally think they would look good polished. However I have concerns about how neat the polish job would be around the letters. Any suggestions?

Never tried it,but I went to a car show about three months ago and there was a 55 chevy that had those valve covers and they were polished. It looked good. I thought about trying to polish mine, but I'm not sure yet.

I agree, it would be easy until you go to the letters. Then it would be a bitch! It would look cool as hell though.

I have seen some and the set that were polished looked like crap. The castings were not the greatest, so there were a few pits and around the letters, they looked terrible. I would suggest having them powder coated if you wish to change the look. I have a polishing business and am advising against this. I would try and make $ if I thought they would turn out nice....

By the way, here are mine, notice, they are -not- polished

Ok, well, thanks for your advice, I figured for the price they would be decent castings. I'm still thinking about it, although I will probably figure something else out. Thanks guys.

I think they look kinda neat when they're *not* polished... almost makes the engine look meaner or something. I was gonna get polished valve covers, but I've grown to like the other kind. Just my two cents.
