Check out AutoTrader online to get an idea of what they are going for in SA. It all depends on what kind of condition it is in. Mine was $5000 and needing a tranny rebuild. I have not seen anything decent for under $3000. Good luck. TL

You might get a pretty ratty 305 TBI for $1000.

A decent 350 TPI is going to cost you more than double your target amount.

You will be better off in the long run if you just save up more money and get something better to start with.

a 350 car is out of the question for $1000 unless its just a messed up car wrapped around an engine. Keep savin man, $2500 you can get a decent lookin car.

i like to find nice ones with bad engines.
1.) 87 iroc with a cracked block - $800
2.) 91 Z28 with a engine knock - $1100

but these also require either engine repair or a new engine... so add anywhere from 1-4 hundred bucks + time...

There are people who need crack and will sell their car for cheap. So keep looking. Hey I wonder How much a boneyard would sell the body of a 3rd gen for.

I got mine for $750, and it looks great, no rust, one dent in the door, one small tear in the drivers seat, other than that its perfect only problem is its a 2.8 V6, keep looking, I looked for about 1 year and a half before I found that great deal

I would suggest saving your money trying to spend a little more than $1,000 since you probally won't find a good one.........

You will most definatly not be able to find a FI 305 or 350 in good condition for 1k.

I suggest saving about 3K, then start looking, im sure you will find a great deal with that target amount.

I spent less than 4K for my IROC-Z
