headlight kit for trans am?
I was curious if anybody knows anything about a headlight kit for thirdgen birds? I've seen the kits made for newer vettes and t/a's that eliminate the flip up headlights and look pretty good. Does anyone know if something like this is available for thirdgens?

Yeah I have seen a couple of people on this board with them on their firebird. I'm not for sure if there is a kit for it though. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find some more info and pictures.

I'm working on a conversion right now... It will be a couple of weeks/month before I finish it though. I still haven't figured out what to do about the 'glass'.
Obviously it needs to follow along the curves and lines of the car in order for this to look good, which means going to a pro and shelling out the $$$.
I've pretty much come to the decision to not use these on my car though. I'd much rather do what Redraif did to her bird and then weld the lids to the hood,
fill in the seams/cracks, etc (or maybe buy a Camaro hood?)

I have made a page on my site about the headlight conversion I did. I did not get all the pics I should have, but so much of this is based on what lights you chose to replace you headlights. So check out my site and you can see how I converted mine!

Would a camaro hood fit on our cars? I know about the lights, but if they were gone, would they then fit?

thanks for the help. I like the conversion on redraif's car better than the sunfire light conversion. Personally, I like the look of the flipups, but the flipups are becoming a pain. The brushes in the motors keep going bad and it's hard to find good junk yard parts. Plus the new motors from GM are 219.00 each.
I'm thinking of doing something similar to redraif. That way I still have the flipup look but don't have to worry with them. BTW, redraif, how's the visibility at night? Is it as good as it was stock? Thanks.

Shannon probably won't be able to reply before she leaves work, so I'll go ahead...
The headlights are FAR brighter than stock; I would say they are comparable to 4th gen, maybe a little better. She has wired in a relay to make all four lights come on when the brights are on, too, and that really lights up the road. They aren't so bright as to attract unwanted attention (police), but they are plenty bright.

thanks, i was curious as to how bright it would be, but if it's better than stock, then i know i can use the driving lights if i can't find anything else. I think I'm going to try to find some small headlights to use and try and similar conversion to the one on the firebird. If the headlight thing doesn't work, i guess I'll just go with the driving lights.
