What do you guys think about this? (Photoshop job ain't the greatest) That's the front fender vent from a BMW M3 that I integrated into the sides of the hood. I think I like it, but not sure.

I kinda like it, but I think that vent is a lil to tall to fit on that part of the ram air hood that we have.

Its interesting, but I think they are to tall for the hood. If you got a style a bit shorter I think it would flow better. I have been trying to figure out what to add to my hood for heat extraction as well. Nothing has really flowed right yet. Plus, I think the imports ruined that vent by making it too recognizable.
I wish I could remember what car I saw these awesome fender vents on. I think it was a high end Mercedes or Lexus. They were really cool, but I did not have a camera. I guess the Camera and I need to wander around a few dealer lots.

They might look better on the flat part of the hood (not on the raised Ram air part) Where the stock bird hoods have them. Can you move it there with photoshop, just to see?

I think they would look better if they were shorter, maybe half the height...that would also elimnate the easy ID as Z3 type pieces. The Panoz Esperante has nice looking fender vents...the factory is just north of Atlanta, I have thought about checking into them.
I like Shannon's idea of putting them on the flat part of the hood, too, as long as you mold them in (I know you would).

I'd like a way to draw air through the cowl so it's not getting all jammed up in there.

I think it looks cheezy.
Of course, the fact that half of the hondas around here are sporting Z3 fenders could have tainted my opinion.

What would really be cool would be to make the camaro hood blisters functional as far as venting goes. Wonder why they were never designed to do that.
I think that they would have to be on the right color car b4 they would look good. My buddy has the Ram Air II hood on his black Formula and the bulges kinda disappear on that. They need something to make them stand out. Anything done well will look good to some people, but you can't please everyone!

I don't care for it. Reminds me of the turbo daytona (or whatever the exact name is) hood for the camaros. I think the 'smoothed' look you have going for the rest of the car will be complimented by keeping the RAII hood 'as-is'

I once posted about moving a RAII scoop further forward on the hood (easy enough), and modifying the bumper cover to have matching scoops in it like on a 4thgen TA. Working glass is pretty easy, but the bumper cover part was going to be tough. Eastwood and others sell whats basically a soldering gun for repairing torn bumper covers (around $200 if I remember right), and I have wanted one for a while, but it wasn't high on the priorities list. Last weekend at SC-Montgomery, I found some guy who had one made by Matco, with different tips for different materials, and an adjustment dial for heat. I asked him what he wanted for the thing, figuring $100+, but he said $50. I offered him $35, and got it for $40!! Looks like I'll be making a new bumper cover as a winter project. If there's any interest, I may make a mold and do a few of them up in fiberglass.

I think the GNX louvers actually look worse then those z3 louvers. The GNX has a much boxier look then the f body, i don't think it looks right on an f body, never mind the hood of an fbody. I'd say leave it how it is.

I remember your car : how *** its still not painted & did you end up doing mods on the rear?
OH sorry but I'm not too taken with the louvers, good idea, but somthing is just not right? but thats just my view on it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I've never seen any other cars (Hondas or whatnot) with these so I guess that must be a local thing. Kj, thanks for the idea, if you were to flip that around so it helped extract air, that might work. OldblueZ - what louvers? I can't recall louvers on the firstgen Camaro; got pix? Jacko - I'm still waiting for your check to clear for the paint job. Seriously, I'm still not done with all of the things I want to do yet and new paint is going to come dead last.

The louvers I'm talking about are cowl induction hood louvers, they are crome and mesh. Let me see if I can find a picture.

Well, I found some.

Ok, the close up doesn't work, go to http://www.classicindustries.com and click on the onlice catalog, then put louver in for your search. The first pic is the 68-69 design. The next pic is of a 67 Camaro SS

"1968-69 SS Hood Louvers:
Classic Industries is pleased to announce the availability of highly sought after 1968-1969 Super Sport hood louvers. These hood louvers were used on all SS-350 and SS-396 1968 and 1969 Camaros. Each hood louver includes the correct satin black backing plate, the original mesh screen insert and a highly polished chrome plated main hood louver. Unlike the 1967 finned style louvers, these louvers are the 4 stack design. Some very early 1968 small block production models used left -over 1967 louvers due to the newer design being unavailable for factory mass production. The reproduction hood louvers are designed for a RH and LH application due to the drain holes which are pre-punched allowing rain or other elements to run off either side of the hood. This is a quality reproduction of the original GM hood louvers. " (borrowed from Classic Industries...follow link above)
I hope this helps,
Jesse

Those are not the greatest shots, the first one is four squares(68-69)
The second are "finned"(67-early 68 because they had some left over).....looks like TPI ribs.
Just google search "1967 camaro ss" or "1968 camaro ss" for more pics.
What's even better is that 68 is for sale...along with many others found after using google.
Later,
Jesse

What? I just don't like to edit my messages in long threads because nobody will read an edit towards the top, they will just go by it without seeing it.
Besides, I have to make up for the summer I missed not posting
-Jesse
KJ Rockz why are you:
1) caring
2) following me. I only posted in two threads(total of six posts, but who really cares anyways) ok, maybe 7 or 8, but look, I edited this one, does that make you a little happier?
