it happend.. i cant believe it happend...


coming home from work today.. not even 1/2 a mile away from my house...

driving down a major street.. 75 yards from the stop light.. i was in the far right hand lane doing 38mph... other 2 lanes where stacked with traffic at a dead stop. i was the only car moving in this lane cause i had to make a right turn..

well... there was a break in the dead stop traffic.. and some guy made a left hand turn through 3 lanes to get into a market area..

i couldnt see it whil traffic is at a dead stop... he pulled out 20 feet in front of me when i was doing about 35-40mph... almost no skid marks cause it was that close...

car still starts and drives... front end smashed.. not sure of the frame, no injuries..

so my car might be totalled, if so i will give details about parting it out. see sig for list of parts.. was a nice car, all parts on the car were less than 3 months old.. inlcuding tires. some parts still in the box, and not installed. i'll take pictures tomorrow, i should know by next week or even saturday if its a loss. then i'll let you guys know whats going on..

well i had the right of way... anyone crossing traffic has to yield reguardless... no one was cited.. but i have 6-7 witnesses that all said the guy was at fault for NOT yielding the right of way to me. He was crossing all 3 lanes to pull into a market.


he pretty much admitted to the cops as well that he made a mistake by going accross while it was blind to him.

im ok.. just a slight concussion. Turns out 2 witnesses where off duty paramedics, and were also on my side. my front nose of my car hit his car square in the passenger side wheel. in fact the wheel mark is even on the front of my car. sucks.

im down, but not out. if they consider my car a total loss i'll buy it back, part it out, then look for another 3rd gen. but damn i loved this car. i just finally put the engine back in after a rebuild, heads, intake, everything. was running AWESOME!!. all that work for nothing.

my car(i figure) is only worth about 2500$... i know for a fact it will cost at least 75% of that too fix.. so im pretty sure its going to be totalled. i bought it for 1500 from a lil old lady who's husband used to own it.

it just sucks cause i spent over 3 months working on it till 2am at night times, only to have it finally running last sunday... ran like a dream. killed in less than 30seconds.

im going to the yard where its at and snap some pics with my digital cam and try to post em on here.. i should know then what the final outcome is. then i'll make the announcement of whats up for sale.

i really really want to get a 67 or 68.. but.. finding one that works, for less than 7K is few and far between. thanks for the thoughtfulness guys. i appreciate it.

so anyways.. like the TOPIC says..

i just got back from the tow yard... engine and mounts are still intact. starts fine, runs ok. the radiator housing and all that jazz has been completely smashed. its about 1/2 away from the drive belts.. thats why the car starts

doors have been pushed back about 1/4 inch.. and it looks as if the T-tops are miss aligned a bit

i will bring it home in about 2 hours, still drives but.. seeing over the hood is going to be fun. the claims people will be out myway on monday, so they say.

anyways, pics will be up in about 2 hours or so.. im going to eat some Wahoo's..

(its good to have a Fiance` who knows good eats)

Sorry to hear about that. Well, at least it is still drivable. I can't say this enough, "bad things always happen to nice cars." From the pictures of the rest of the car it looked like you had a sharp looking car. I like grey thirdgens.

HEy that looks like the Camaro I bought for 500 bucks. I took the engine and Junked the car. Well The other half of the body was real bad also so there was not much use for it.

 

yeah everyone liked it. i WAS going to put in my sportlines and new shocks today... oh well. its at my house now and all i wanna do is just go out there and start trying to pry open the hood and screw around with it, but i cant touch a thing till that damn insurance guy gets his *** out here.


i dont know what kind of wheels they are. they were on the car when i bought it. no indication of any type of maker on the wheel. if anyone wants to take a guess go for it.

but they MIGHT be for sale, if the car winds up totalled. they do have a lil rash on them and the bolts to the center caps are made of plastic and are completely jacked. so im not sure if anyone would really want them

its the old.. "good from a far, but far from good" story.

That sucks about your car man. It wouldn't surprise me if the insurance man says your car is only 74% damaged. I can't stand insurance people....they're right there with lawyers and bleeding heart liberals....and Rosie O'Donnell.

I dont know about the rest of u, but everytime i read these accident stories, it gets me more and more cautious of myself when driving my bird. Damn the thought of just smashing your pride and joy u put so much work in it, and then its gone just like that.

That must suck so much, i dont even want to know how it feels, and hope i never do.
