Original 1982 camaro fiberglass hood
I have a fiberglass hood that came off my 82 z28. We put a new engine in it and now we need to get a new hood does anyone have any idea how much i could get out of it? Or anyone looking for one??? Supposably its the only year that came with the fiberglass hood.

As far as I know the Trans-AM never came with a fiberglass hood. At least not in the 1982-92 cars. Are you the original owner of the car? If you are not it could be from collision repair before you got the car. That's my $.02 anyway. However you should be able to get $200-400 for you hood depending on condition and weather or not it would match the buyers car.

what? You have a fiberglass hood and you want to get rid of it? Why dont you just cut a hole in it and put a cowl on there? Come on that Fiberglass I hear its light and not cheap. Besides a regular cowl is the best looking hood IMO to go on a Camaro.

I figure if i can get rid of it for 300 or 400 dollars i can just go out and buy a bolt on cowl hood and not have to mess with puttin a scoop on. Who knows if i can get that much out of it but it shoudl be pretty hard to find.

I have an 82 Z-28 w/ the Crossfire Inj. with a fiberglass hood that is functional. Doesn't do the car much good since it runs like s*** anyway. Don't know how much the car is worth and really don't care cause the car is a POS. I really don't care for the Crossfire Inj, but figured I'd keep the car stock anyways.

My ride in a 1982 Z with crossfire (in 82) got me to buy the 1983 model. The hood flaps opened up and the engine roared (I didn't know it was a puney 305). The 82 you have must need a tune up!

z28 hood
Z28 came with the LG4 4bblbl V-8 as standard motor and LU5 twin TBI `Cross Fire Injection' 5.0 liter/305 motor was optional. All Z28's came with lightweight SMC (Sheet Molded Compound) hoods. The LU5 optioned Z28's also came with functional hood air induction flaps. The Z28 had a different nose that did not have the three horizontal slits above the grille as on the Sport Coupe and Berlinetta. Z28 came standard with a 3 piece rear spoiler and black horizontal bar in tail lights. The Z28 also came with front, side, and rear lower body valances in silver or gold. Just above the valance was a two- color lower body stripe that encircled the car. Headlamp pockets on the Z28 were black. The Z28 came standard with a new 15x7 cast aluminum 5 spoke wheel accented with either silver or gold. Z28 badges appeared on the right rear bumper, and on the side valance just behind the front wheels. A 1982 Z28 can be distin- guished from a 1983 and 1984 Z28 by its lack of the bowtie emblem by the Z28 emblem on the rear bumper.
