Cleaning the engine bay

I have a alot of grime I want to clean off around my engine bay, but the engine is still not all together yet so I don't feel good hosing it down. I want something that I can selectively spray or wipe to clean with. What do you like to use? Brake cleaner?

RU-QUIK, first off, nice motor! Second, what have you used for breathers on those valve covers? I have the same ones but am undecided. Any pics? thanks I have a product called Industrial Purple, they sell it at my Home Depot. It works well too. Simple Green is great too. Good luck

i use power clean i think it is called.

autozone carries it, it's purple in color, runs about 6 bucks a gallon jug.

can clean engine bays with it, and i also use it for the concrete floor of the shop here at the house. eats grease pretty well.

i also use a pressure washer for the engine bay, and cover up the air cleaner.

about the valve covers, i imagine you could machine a hole along the top of the cover, above the chevrolet logo.

i know pace performance carries those covers with breather holes on them. www.paceperformance.com

Yeah that is what we did. We used a drill press, it worked pretty good and came out real clean. I am just undecided on what breather to get. I guess i am going with a push in style. Would you believe they want more money for those covers with holes in them! Anything to make a buck i guess! Pace performance has a mess load of valve covers in teir mag. thanks
