Just call up your local PD. They can tell you and it won't cost you a thing. Just remember to get the persons name.

It has to be in the front of the car. My friends get tickets and **** all of the time from cops around here for that! That just gives them one more reason to pull you over.

Actually, the tag can be dangerous in the window, those things are sharp and in an accident might chop your head off.

Yes its illegal to move it to the dashboard... BUT...

Its actually saved me a time or two. I got pulled over for speeding once, and instead of the speeding ticket (84 in a 65, 2x$) he just gave me a 44 buck non-moving violation for the plate. I consider it a deal and a 1/2

As for "one more reason to pull you over", just from my experience they usually won't pull you over for a cosmetic thing like that, just major stuff like moving violations or undercar neons, and if they spot it when you're pulled over THEN they'll do something about it.

PS - My plate's still in the corner of my dash.

When i am with my friends, when they get pulled over the 3 out of 4 times it's happened has been why is you plate not in the front! Twice with one frind b/c he drives like a tool and likes his licence being suspended, and once with another friend. I guess it is with my expiereince, thats all. As a police officer you want to look at that stuff anyway, just so you can pull someone over and maybe get someting else on that car or the persons inside. Bottom line, it is not allowed.

This is one area where the Camaro guys definately have an advantage. A front plate on a Camaro doesn't look bad because there is a place for it. On a Firebird however, it completely breaks up the lines of the car. When I lived in NJ I kept my plate on the dash, it was illegal, but I didn't catch much crap for it. Now that I'm in FL, no front license plate, and no emissions inspections.

f. plate

i agree about plates ruining the lines of the car...im in b.c. canada and theres no way i'd have a front plate on my baby. cops haven't cared when i've been pulled over (although i usually get pulled over from behind )... when i wrecked my front end i made sure to tell the body shop guy to get rid of ANY holes in the front (ie holes for license plate holder & for emblem)

my buddy has a camaro & no front plate and he's been asked about it a few times.. just tells the cops that he parked too close or something and that he hasn't gotten around to getting a new holder yet. it works. some cop gave him a slip saying he had to replace it within 10 days, but he didn't.. and no problems came up the next time he got asked about it at a roadcheck.
