Whos 87 IROC vert did this belong to???

I just noticed on ebay that a vert I saw for sale here a few months back is now for sale. whos was it??? Here is the link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1872614817

I believe the original seller sold it for $6k which was a steal. I bet it goes for over $7k on ebay.

That's an 87 IROC? Without a TPI under the hood? And an 85 mph speedo? Something doesn't seem right there....looks like an RS that someone put IROC badges and wheels on...

Agreed, but not an RS, maybe a Z28. I don't think there were any, or maybe very few 87 RSs.

Just because it doesn't have TPI doesn't mean it isn't an IROC. There's absolutely nothing on that site that makes it's legitimacy questionable.

You're right, I assumed it was carbed, didn't think of TBI, but were there any LG4s in 87?

The Vin doesnt say anything about it being a Iroc It just says the Engine is a LG4 ( doesnt mean that this car was an Sport coupe that someone Cloned in to a Iroc)

oh ok, I thought in your previous post you were sayin that there were 744 Verts that yr as in IROC. so there could be some LG4s.

Like i said earlier, I only though LG4s were in the Z28s for that yr.

If I am right the LB9s were the 305s for the Irocz & the LG4s were for everything else The LT,SCs & the Z28s

There were 263 Converables made for the SCs (or LTs).
the 744 were Z28s ( I made a mistake saying they were Irocs) But you could have orderd a Iroc Converable & they were counted as part of thge Z28 count

The Converables could be ordered as SCs or Z28s or their upgrade LT or Iroc

This is all from the Camaro White book

you are not right. Base engine for the IROC was the LG4 85 - 87. I know people who own LG4 irocs personally.

And the LB9 was available in the Z28 as well 85 - 87, again, I know people personally with TPI Z28's.

That car has been for sale for ever; I've seen it for months off Hwy 59 in Houston. I never had the time to run in and check it out, but I know that the third brake light is nothing like the one on my '89.

I was hoping someone could say something about this car that would end it all. Is it real? If I go and look, how could I tell?

Is the door sticker right?
Are the center caps right?
Did they have the stripe delete option in '87?

I think the car has at least been painted. I think there should be stripes, the IROC decal looks a little high, and it looks like they clear coated the headlight pockets.

That car looks real to me. I agree with the fact that yes a 87 Iroc did in fact come with the LG4 a fella here in town has one, origainl owner and never touched a thing.

As for the idea of that one being painted...Uhh I don't know? First off it is just a picture. But the car only has 37,000 miles on it. Unless it is a accident repair or something. The stickers on the doors look right to me. Hey I could be wrong though. $6000US for that car sounds like a reasonalbe price to me, not only for the buyer, but for the seller. It priced to sell!

I wouldn't expect it to. 87s had a unique spoiler & rear brake light. The light assembly is actually a ford piece from the LTD station wagons.

Just my 3 cents . . . I owned a 1990 IROC L03 vert.

It was black and slow. It was a good starter Camaro.
It set me on my way to better and faster things . . .

EDIT: Here's the old girl . . . I sold her to a friend for $600.
It needed some work but was the perfect island cruiser while I was on Guam.

Wait, you sold a 1990 IROC 'vert for $600?

Also, don't you mean L03, not LG4.

L03! Yes! You are correct. I screwed that up. Bad.

I'll go back and edit that now.

That car is either an 87 IROC-Z convertable like it says or an 87 Z28 convertable. I'd say its real though, with either new stickers and removed stripes or its been repainted.
