I'm going to be reloacting my battery this winter and would like some pic's of where and how you guys are mounting your diconnect switch. Basically, what I'm looking for is a way to hide the swtich so nobody knows it's there, but be able to make it NHRA legal. Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about on the outside of the car? I believe that is where the on/off switch needs to be in order for it to be leagal for use at the track. And it has to be marked for "on/off". I too would like to see pictures b/c i am looking into doing this for the spring and have only come across a few pictures.

Yes, on the outside of the car. Problem is that my car is a daily driver and I don't wan't some yahoo to be able to walk right up and just flip the switch.

Use duct tape when you go to the track! Take it off when you leave. If all you have to do is is flip the switch back, it is not that bad. I would say it is better to do that then to get a $2000 paint job and have someone key it. So, anyone with pictures?

Looks good! Do you have any pictures of the inside too? I saw the one on your site but it doesn't really show the disconnect switch. I know, i'm being a little bitch but just parts you used would be good enough! Thanks for your time

Now this is what I'm talking about. Now is it legal being behind the plate? I've thought about it but I wasn't sure. If so, do you have to leave your plate down while at the track?

Thanks in advance!

Excuse my ignorance, but I'm curious as to why you'd need a disconnect switch...

If you have your battery located in the rear of the car you need a switch for track officials incase of an emergency, so they can "disconnect" your battery from the outside to turn the car off, to cut its power.

I'll get you a pic of the backside tomorrow if you really need it, but all it is is a battery switch sold by Summit. I used they're hardware and stuff. The only thing you have to do is drill a 3/4" whole, and i think i "may" have had to bend the sheet metal a little bit to get it to clear the hatch latch assembly, but nothing major.

Oh and yes, it's perfectly legal behind the plate, just so long as you have the plate down while your at the track...

Imagination! Drill through the tail light and make sure it is sealed properly! I really don't know. It also depends on where you put the battery in the hatch, think about that factor too! Pictures of that would be cool too.

for those of you with firebirds, go to the junkyard and find a fold down plate holder. install it in your factory location and go from there. I don't know if this will work or not, the thought just popped into my head....
