heres what my spoiler looked like... you can see why i wanted to take it off. it was keyed before i bought the car, i was gonna repaint it, but i dont like the rubber one anyways, its a pos.. so i may get a fourth gen type one or a 91-92 ta one.. for now ill leave it off...

 

it was fairly simple to get off, just undo some bolts slide it up and pull. came off no problem, though i cutt the third tail light wire on the top, when i shoulda done it on the bottom so i can reuse it easily.

 

here it is without the spoiler, i will still need to bondo it and paint it, but i think it'll look good.

 

hehe, my buddy had his 82 camaro over when i did this, so i put the spoiler on his car for a sec to see how it looks hehe, not terrible, but not really good either

 

 

get a pedistal spoiler

 

I think I'm one of the few who actually like the look of a spoilerless bird. The spoiler on my GTA is pretty old and doesn't exactly look as good as it could. Its far from broken though. I might take it off and leave it off when I paint it next winter.

i like my jumbo 5 ton GTA spoiler.. its not painted because it would just chip off again ... i think mine looks better black anyways..
maybe all get a z-28 high rise some time.. but for now for this one looks pretty good

I've seen that spoiler you have on your car in person, it looks very good, I'd go for that one.

 

If I coul get rid of the bumper, I'd take my spoiler off again,

I like birds with no spoiler. If I ever get a TA and the spoiler is in crappy condition, its gone

thanks for the replys guys, and hamspiced, you have to paint it with paint mixed with some sort of rubber agent, that should make it a bit better, my recomendation tho is to just buy a fiberglass spoiler, you'll be better off in the long run. Or take it off entirely, i kinda like the look of mine without one

 

i took the spoiler off of my trans am about a month ago because it was doin the same thing as yours. it was chipping and paint was just fallin off. i took it off and i thought it looked so much better but when i was driving it i got pulled over for having no 3rd brake light. so i had to put it back on. i stripped the paint off first because i couldnt stand lookin at it all chipped and scratched.

 

i think it looks cool without the spoiler!
