my swapped in 9 bolts makes a strange noise at 75 mph
my cupholder broke
i may need a new seatbelt buckle
can hear air rushing somewhere around my window
other than that i would never sell this car. i will get it back to its prime

Can't stand that it wasn't built to accomodate a big man. (I'm 6'4 and 250). Seat relocation on the way

I'm 6'3 and I don't have too many issues with height, I've also got t tops though, a hardtop is really uncomfortable for me, I think I sit in a weird way too but it works for me lol

Re: What do you not like about your thirdgen?
So i have a 1989 firebird, and it does not run, has no interior what so ever, is rusted all around, has all spare rims, needs a new motor, and has no exhaust. But i still love it because i love the look of the body, no other car has such a sick *** body. My car is not on the road yet, but when i get my license, it should be fixed by then. But how about solving these issues? The heavy doors, do they make new doors for 3rd gens that are lighter? And the center consol with no cup holders, can that be modified and if so how? Does anyone know of anyway you can make the 3rd gens lighter by replacing specific parts? I dont know how many new parts they make that would help with weight, but i know the rear spoiler is a lot lighter than the rubber ones. other than that i cant think of any parts that can be replaced with lighter ones.

The only thing I didn't like about the car was the 305. Swapped it out this winter for an LSX 6 speed.

Nothing personal about the motor...It did run strong for what it is.....just looking for more hp. Out of all my friends and family, especially my dad and brother, my car was always the slowest.

Re: What do you not like about your thirdgen?
The problem with them is that they wore made during the EPA's reign of terror on the auto industry but they can be great motors if you just do a little modding. To be honest when I found out my Camaro had an 350 and not the stock LG4 305, I was pretty disappointed.

Re: What do you not like about your thirdgen?
It is definitly a good motor. I beat the hell out of it since I bought it back in 2001. Ran a best 14.8 at the track and that was with just an magnaflow exhaust. I had a blast driving it around, just needed to upgrade.
My 305 is actually in my friends 80's pick up truck right now. He knew it ran strong and wanted it once he heard I was yanking it out.

1. I'm not a big fan of the open diff (I get the "one wheel wonder" joke all the time).
2. Temp gets up there with the a/c running when I'm stuck in traffic.
3. Last 2 plugs on the passanger side are a PITA.
Besides those 3, car rocks!!! Overall love the car, NO car is perfect...

I just find it funny that our cars were made to be modern but they don't have cupholders.

Re: What do you not like about your thirdgen?
My apologies for my inaccurate description. I know that some Firebird came with cup holders, I thought they all did. I know they were attached to the door panels. If your car didn't come with them it may be as easy as switching out the panels. No Camaro had cup holders stock in any location.
Could you please explain how you determined that "our cars were made to be modern"? Its my experience that our cars were made to be sporty, fast, sexy, and an experience just to own one. Modern, even in 1990, would not be the word I would pick to describe my car.
Also yee-haw! Mother fudger. My driving is so good I got 13mpg on my last fill-up (of 91 octane 100% gas).

^ there is room to drill a hole for a cup holder in the rear side pannels if you had something for a linner, a larger plastic cup with a lip. Hmmm I have a new project

Damn squeaking front springs. Sounds horrible. Pretty sure it has to do with the Spohn A arms though. Didn't have the problem when I had the original control arms and springs

1. You need to upgrade to the Posi that came factory on my car.

3. Ditto, I hate anything to do with the passenger side because it seems they tried to stuff everything on that side.

Our cars have loads of plastic, fancy electronics, fuel injection, and a few other things that were made to be more advanced for the time they were built.
Ha! I got 14.8 when I filled up earlier today!

All city driving and a 305 + lead foot = bad mpgs, I get about 28 hwy due to my 3.08's in the rear, need to put int 3.42's for city driving though...

Re: What do you not like about your thirdgen?
I don't like that the front seats, when fully upright, lean back so much in thirdgens. I've owned 4, and they were all like this. I'm tall, but I'm not heavy, so I haven't broken down the seatback lol; the driver's seat still matches the passenger seat. They just lean back too far.
I'd guess they were designed like this to maximize headroom because the cars are so low and flat. But at 6'-1", I don't have any headroom issues, so I'd love to figure out a way to make the seats more upright. Outside of shimming the rear mounting points, I'm open to suggestions... So if anyone who might read this has any thoughts, please share.

Things I hate about my thirdgen?
The drivers seat that doesn't recline up all the way
The saging doors
The original retarded owner who broke almost every plastic panel and spray painted the interior black when it was tan....
the power mirror switch that refuses to work
the power locks that i have to press a million times to open the doors yet they sit won't unlock, the fact my truck lock cylinder is broken off, its leaking oil.....
Other than that I love my baby.

I also hate that my drivers seat headrest WILL NOT stay up. It's fine until I start down the road, then it slowly drops back down.

I donīt like from my L03:
The flex in the fbody
The rear drum brakes
The difficulty to change the fuel pump
Not having select track controlled by a switch from dash
The cluster design
The iron heads and intake manifold.

One thing I don't like is how my spoiler took flight today, I was driving around town and it was on my car then we parked at the beach and then it was gone, I just hope it didn't hit anyone, One thing I do like is how I almost beat a highly modded supra with the power of a truck 350 motor

We don't need no stinking cup holders! Kidding guys..
