someone might correct if me i'm wrong but i believe that piece was standard on all camaros.

you could probably pick one up from a junkyard or something, try going to GM even.

i also believe that only the carb'd and throttle body motors got them. because TPIs have dual snorkel set-up.

My firebirds have all (3 of them an 82, 88 and 91) been solid metal there. I seriously doubt you would want to replace the metal forward of the radiator support with plastic, as to my knowledge it is integral in supporting the nose cone..

Its not a support device...its just a piece of plastic that sits on top of the metal piece. I think the one thats on the camaro is on there to block the air filter holes cause the in the pic the car has a carb on it. I was just looking to see if you could use this piece on a firebird. My front metal piece isnt bad....but the paint on it is starting to show its age...and i really dont want to start masking everything off just to paint it. I sapose if i have to though i will.

Yep I think my 87 Iroc (carb) used to have one (it looks like that anyhow),,,but its gone, I want to get on too. Its not a support piece at all, just a cover!!

the thing you guys need to realize is the fact that you cannot use this plastic piece if you have a tpi motor, unless you have re-arranged your intake. that's why you find them only on the carb'd motors.

I know that you cant use this peice on a tpi camaro cause the air inlets take its place. My question is can you use this on a firebird??? The firebirds intake doesnt go down that far like the camaro's does. It sits in front of the radiator shroud and the MAF bolts on to that if you have a 3rdgen firebird that is a 89 or below when they used the MAF system.
