i plan on getting some 17" x 9" rims. what size tire needs to go on to retain the correct speed on my speedo?

i currently have 15" x 7" rims with P215/65R15 tires. what size tires do i need to do the job??

I came up with 255/45-17

those gave you a .1% differnace with your speedo, So you will be going .1% faster than what you speedo says. Thats pretty close.

You could also use 285/40/17's, but I don't know if they will rub on
the front or not.

I have 255/40-17 on my ZR1 wheels, I would like 275's in he back and 255 in the front, but than I would never me able to rotate the tires beause they have to roll a certin direction. So I got 255 all around.
