need some help....

coming up with a floor design for an indoor show.

must be easily put together and taken down. 10 min tops.

the area is 12x20. they require carpet and stanchons(roped off)

i was thinking maybe 1' square black and white checkers with some black poles every 4-5' with white and black checkered flags as a connecting rope?

i want something simple yet stands out.....any ideas of what would look good? i might be one of very few if any other thirdgens amongst the hundreds of cars so i want to stand out, but do it tastefully.

hmm how about instead of white squares u use like a chrome or polished alumin or somerthing polised like a mirror or even mirror's that can take the pressure of a car with out braking. and then have the black sqaures set up just like the checker squares in that picture and then have it roped off like u said u were goin to do. just an idea.

actually have thought about it, they do make mirrored squares which i have in front of me....but, i'm going to use mirrors to display the chassis so i don't want to over do it.

the point is to stand out, but not over do it like you see at some of the import shows you know.

wow that's pretty good..........your a natural with that stuff! great work.

most shows just call for something as simple as gray carpet and duct tape to hold it down. you can use anything you want to rope it off so long as it's not harmful.

i just want the car to stand out a little since most just do carpet or they go the extreme with custom elevated rotating assemblies and such.

any suggestion is greatly appreciated!!

Umm you could orginize the black and white squares so that it turned out to be a big chevy bowtie, like a white background with a black bowtie, or vise versa, or other colors. It's an idea at least

I think those checkers are too small, and the other ones are too big, you need some that are inbetween (that reminds me goldiocks and the three bears......I'm tired) the one foot squares sound good, maybe a bit bigger like 1.5'

I still like my Bowtie idea though:lala:

Ive always liked the checkered look. How about matching the checkers to the color of your car and the aluminum of your wheels,
or your car color and white etc.

I think 1' would do quite well, but 2' might be better I'd have to see it and I'm too tired to photoshop it into 2' square (I actually tried)

yeah i wish i had a program to do that with.

definately agree that the 4' squares like the first is overkill....however i think the 2' might be exactly what i'm looking for.

as far as matching the color of the car....i actually thought of that, the only reason i'm looking towards the black/white combo is so it doesn't deter from the actual car. just accent it you know.

appreciate the suggestions though. please keep them coming!

What about putting bowties in the color of your car on the black?

That'd be interesting, but it could be too busy, you'd need the bigger squares if you did that.

I see what your saying, the 57 catches my attention. One thing I havent seen is Chevy Bowties for holding the rope around the perimeter.

The one in the center does, but thats probably because it's in the center, but it's bright as well so you do notice it better, the checkered one did draw my attention, but that could be because we are talking about checkered ones (sorry I'm not being very helpful am I), and the green one with the orange vette is just ugly looking. I'll photoshop a 2' one tomorrow when i get some rest

LOL that sounds like a plan that way you can see everything and when the lights hit it all you'll see is a big shine where your car is on display that way people are naturally attracted to it like flys to **** LOL :lala:

My friend saw this and to quote him

"personally i think somethin like that red car has looks nicer, like having a cream coloured carpet makes the red car stand out and look good.. the black and white went good with that yellow vette, but the red looks better on a light coloured floor"

Just more opinions for ya

How about doing a floor that matches your interior??

The checker borad is ok, but as you can see, its not unique when 10 other people have it. Try doing something that relates to your car but doesnt draw more attention to the floor than the car. Thats why I like that orange vette with the green. Its not the colors that I like, its the way the the car and the floor and the barriers are "connected" together, but your there to see the car not the floor.

Have a intersting floor to get thier attention, but use your car to keep them there, not the floor.

Just my thoughts.

all very good points! i really appreciate it.

i think the main point of showing the 3 different floors is to show that yes, even though the color red gets your attention your eyes are still drawn to the checkered floor.

true, that it is something that will probably be reapeated 10 or even 15 out of 300 cars....but that's still pretty low considering there will be 50 out of 300 with light colored carpet.

i'm still unsure about the whole thing, just guaging your responses which i really appreciate. however, side by side in person i think you would naturally look at the checkered floor before anything and only then the possability of wether or not the car is your style is what would keep you there.

jimmy, can you find a way to some how mock up that chevelle in red. doesn't have to be perfect and possibly change the red 57 to black? i think because there is so much black going on it gets different opinions unlike if it were red? could be wrong though, wouldn't be the first time.

i'm not partial to anything.........i'm looking for ideas so yeah that's a possability. need to find a way to show as an example somehow to get the idea.

thinking it one way and actually seeing it are two completely separate things. the main thing is to not look to busy.

thanks guys those are both great ideas!

the racedeck is actually what i started looking at but at 3.50 a sq.ft your looking at roughly 900 dollars for just the floor.

but, if i go with the above pick and just border it and then possibly go with a solid white or black carpet or even laminate that will cut the price down to only 250 for the border which is nice!

you guys are really helping me, this is great!

You could use Jaws' idea and instead of just a solid carpet you could have the big bowtie there, I can't getaway form the bowtie

i agree, however i think it might be a bit much.....i'm trying to go sutblt....however subtle checkered flooring can be.

i'm a little worried doing it like the above picture as it looks more like a border thouhg.

very expensive and hard decision. figure to custom build sheets of laminant i'm looking at 400

solid carpet is 350

and the diomand plate race deck would cost 750..........

i think i might just use newspaper.

id say white becuz when lookin at the underneth of the car it will be abit briter then with the black carpet. so if ur using mirrors to show the bottem of the car the white will help better.
