Pic of my car BRAND NEW!

Hey guys, got a pic of my car when it was brand spankin' new. When I bought the car off the original owner in 2000 he gave me a copy of a picture he took the day he got it. Just got around to scanning it today. Cool eh?

How is it possible that he is the original owner and that pic was took the first day he had it, it has license plates on it! Just curious, it looks clean as hell though. I just think the guy you bought it from is pulling some

obviously someone has never transfered plates

maybe he did that? like when you trade a car in and put your old plates on the new car till you get new plates, im pretty sure thats legal in most states but like when i bought the iroc from an individual i had to get temps

just my .02

That crossed my mind because people in CA do that all the time but the plate didn't look like anything special to me, maybe it was to the owner who knows...

what the hell are you talking about

the original owner went to the dealer, bought the car, got it registered, put plates on, drove it home, and took a picture.

DUH!!!!

In VA the DMV has boxes of plates sitting in the office. They walk back, grab a set at random and then assign them to your car in the computer. Unless you are ordering custom plates, you can get them the same day.

This is such a silly argument that I hate to dignify it with a response but... Here in Georgia they also have plates ready to hand out at the tag office. Georgia law also requires you to keep the tags from any vehicle that you sell or trade, and you can then have them transferred to another vehicle.

Side note; It's taken me about twelve years of living in GA to get used to saying "tags', when what I really mean is license plates.

Think before I post? How about you think before you post. I live in Ontario, same as the guy who started this thread.

When you buy a car here, you get your plates 5 minutes after you walk into the DMV. They have them in boxes behind the counter.

Sorry guys but Easy is absolutely right! 92GTA and 89transam...You guys have no idea what you are talking about so perhaps be careful before you post. The dealer will not let you take the car home without plates unless you're towing it.

I thought about contacting the owner I bought my car from and see if he had any pictures of it new. He moved so i can't contact him now.

I would like to see what my 4 cylinder firebird looked like right off the lot.

Damn it only takes 5 minutes at the DMV. I want to move there. It takes atleast 20 minutes in Ohio. I worked at a dealer once and you can transfer your tags from one vehicle to another or get a temp tag.

Where I live, the DMV takes forever. My wife went to renew her license and it was a 20 minute wait just to take a number. Then it was 2 hours to finally walk out of the place with her new license.

Some days are just flat out worse than others. Ive gotten plates for my 84 S/E within 30 here.

It also depends on when you go to the DMV. Theres awlays rush times when people put it off til the last min.

And times of day when it isnt busy.

I know EXACTLY what I am talking about but I guess only in CA In CA it can take up to a month to get the plates for your car mailed to you by the DMV. Until then you simply have a piece of paper taped to the windshield. Sorry to have started this but I have never registered a new car in any states besides CA and figured that on the plates it issue it may be the same everywhere since I have never heard differently...

Kinda hate to add to the nonsense on this one, but....here in NY, when you buy a new car, the dealer has the plates right there. Everybody buying a new car drives home with plates already on it.
PS...sharp looking car!

Looks real good. Enjoy that picture because bet there are very few owners that have a picture of there car when it was brand new. I wish I had one. I need to track down the original ownerof my car one of these days and talk to him just for my general knowledge.

here in iowa when you leave the dealer they give you a paper plate that goes in the rear window. I believe that you have 60 days to get real plates. and when you go to get plates, they have a box right behind the counter and they grab the next plate off the pile and hand it too you with the sticker that goes on it.

Unless you want personalized plates, that takes about 4-5 weeks to be processed, but i can understand that.

What you need is another pic of the car in the present under it, it would be awsome too have them side by side to compare.

But it looks awsome in that pic.

NTChrist: He gave me the receit for it too. He worked (and still does) at GM so he got a discount on it. Came out to just over $16 000.

TransAm12sec: The car was painted 9 years ago.

Joe_L: I'm going to ask him where the pic was taken, find that exact spot and take a pic of it this summer. Maybe I should ask him why he didn't get an L69!

As for the stripes, I like it better with them off, although maybe red iroc stripes would look better, as they're not as high.

Here in Arkansas, You can drive off the lot w/o plates. Cops also prefure you DON'T put the plate from your old car on your new one. Aslong as you got them papers saying you just bought it less then 30 days ago, your set.

If the car was payed in full, you could get plates same day.

If you took out loan, you have to wait about 7-10 days for paper work, then get new/transfer plates.

Just payed my 4th "new" car off.
