Yes, stock is plastic.

the Vette however, got an aluminum cover. You have to get one of those. It's the same, just different material.

By the way, nice 89. We both have fairly rare colors. My bright red and gold, your burgandy and red. Both have always been faves of mine.

very nice.

The corvette came with aluminum plenum extensions and thirdgens got the plastic ones as far as I know. You can pick them up off eBay for a reasonable price and go wild polishing them. Hope this helps...

no your 100% right. For some odd reason GM decided to give the camaro's and firebirds plastics ones....VS ones that came with the vettes were alluminum. So alot of people on here including myself have ordered the alluminum ones. Mid America sells them....so doesnt corvette central. To pass the little tip along though....make sure you get the screws with it also. 3 star head screws....cause the ones that came with 3rdgens wont work with an alluminum TPI extension. I believe everything cost me bout 40 bucks...so its not that bad. I got mine in and polished it by hand.....took me bout 4 hours. Well worth it. Here are some pics. Hope this helps.

go to your local GM dealer and order one. the aluminum extension should run you about $20 and the screws are about $3 apiece, and you need 3 of them.

GM part numbers are 10108425 for the extension, and 14082425 for the screw(3x).

It amazes me how much people are willing to pay on Ebay and through other resources because they don't check with the dealer first.
