I did have them on my Camaro too, but I removed them. By removing the guards it gave the car a more aggressive look.

they are good for the winter if you have to drive though, it keeps a lot of salt and crap off the GFX/body seam, where it tends to collect

I have guards on mine that say "Pontiac" with the logo above it. I think it gives the car a better look while also keeping it clean and protecting the paint.

I voted eheh.

Kind of a thing from the 80's, or not. That was the first thing I did to the my car, take the mudflaps off. I didnt like the way they looked, but its your car not mine.

i actualy wanna put flaps on mines too... seems on the new york roads the rocks/pebbles that get kiked up chew away athe the paint right after the wheels....especialy at the back since the wheel stick out more than the rear valance/gfx... the fronts are ok...oh and that was with 245's... its just an eye sore

Yuck! I hate them. I would burn them if they were on my car (yeah so I would prolly just throw em away - not worth hurting another thirdgens appearence by selling them.)

mudflaps are definitely not my style... i think they take away from the aggressive look of the rear of our cars... i love to see the wide tires... just my $.02

I think they belong on trucks not performance cars. I have zero need for mudflaps on my car living in So Cal and if I was in an area that I would I would just drive the truck those days. I really can't stand mudlflaps.

there is a pair on my camaro....i never really notice that they're there at all.

some of you seem to notice i guess

I find that they help collect extra rubber/VHT when at the track instead of the body of the car.....i still have little ***** of rubber on there from the previous owner's fun at Route 66 near chicago.

I vote NO. On these type of cars they have no place. If your car looks aggresive then you really don't want them. Now on a SUV or pick up or your daily around town driver, YES.

I don't care for how they look, but I spent WAY too much time on my paint job to let it get blasted by crap coming off my tires. I put a couple stock Z28 mud flaps behind the front wheels, tucked up enough that you don't even see them unless you're looking for them.

Ok, they may serve a purpose if you live on a dirt/gravel road.....

But in the summer on pavement, they look pretry weird looking....

If they serve a purpose for you keep them on, but get some sleek looking ones....

Someone here once mentioned that they use binder clips to attach their "rock guards". You know those black spring steel clips? I thought it was a good idea. It lets you mount them for driving around when you know paint damage is inevitable, but are easily removed for nice days, shows, etc. Plus they're pretty inconspicuous.

We have them on every single one of our cars, except the 2002. We have a gravel driveway, so they help alot. They keep stone chips away from your body, if thats a concern for you.

I got them on mine. As usual the previous owner put them on. However I haven't taken them off and don't plan too. That being said if they weren't on the car already I wouldn't put them on.

Sorry to have been harsh on ya but I was just saying that mudflaps do serve a purpose(gravel roads, snow and salt which ruins paint and causes rust). I'm sure that anyone that does have them just has them on for that purpose and not for cosmetic reasons. Peace out brotha

and stone chips on your paint will make everyone cry!

Mud flaps dont necsssarily look good on thirdgens, but would you rather have them, or stone chips?

I didn't have time to read all of the replys, but I wanted to add that you don't need mudflaps to prevents chips or scratches... Theres a new product out, I forget what its called but its a static cling clear plastic that you stick on your 1/4 panel. You can't even tell its there and the rocks/debris won't penetrate it. Car looks stock and you get no chips... win/win

Usually worthless. Far from a new product. Over time the clear will get chipped and turn a yellow color and end up damaging the paint. It's your car, who cares if someone else thinks splash guards look 'white trash'. A lot of locations require them, like mine. Unless you like the look of no paint behind the the tires. The groundfx on my 82 stop the rocks, so I don't run them on it yet. But all my other cars have mudflaps (splash guards). All of the paved roads around here intersect with a gravel road at least every mile--which ends up getting gravel on the pavement. The only exception is the interstate. It's an arguement nobody is going to win, because some of us have no need for them, and some of us have to use them to prevent rock chips. Calling it white trash is insulting your fellow thirdgen owners

Oh and that 3m film stuff, don't! That is about the most unsightly thing that you can put on a car for protection against road conditions. You can see it,the edges and when it gets beat up enough and you have to take it off-buh bye paint. Some rich dude put that film protector stuff on one of those blue and yellow Corvette Pace Car editions and you can see it a plain as day.You could even see the damage that the rocks were doing to it.
