Since the rear are the easiest to change I went and changed 'em with the pro kit springs I just got. Here are the before measurements from the ground thru the centerline of the tire, to the top of the wheelwell:
RR - 28 1/8
LR - 27 9/16
So far the left side only dropped about 1/8" and the right side about 1/4". I have a few questions:
I wanted the car to drop at least 1" but so far it's still got a long way to go. I know once I install the fronts it should drop some more, but will it go all the way down to 1"? If so, how long will I have to wait for the springs to settle? I know my old springs weren't worn out because from what I've read, stock ride height is about 27-28 inches. Also I read that some cars with WS6 suspension haven't had much of a drop with the pro kit. I'm wondering if I should even go thru the hassle of installing the fronts and maybe it's better to send these back and get the sportline set?
Please some feedback here will be helpful! thanks

I put DropZone springs in mine and for my rears I got an instant 3/4 drop. Well more or less it was an instant 3/4 drop all the way around. I still need to drive the car for a good month everyday for the them to settle.
heres the before rear:

and heres the after. This was right after I let the car down off the jack to go do the fronts..I hadnt driven the car nowhere
So I really dont know, some will say the DropZones are cheap springs but I dont believe everything I read. To each thier own.
Somethings got to be wrong if you just got 1/8 or so...

I drove the car around for a while but nothing changed. I dunno if it will actually take some time before I see the drop, but even if that happens, I seriously doubt the springs will settle 3/4" lower.
How much are those dropzones supposed to lower your car?

you also have to take into account that your car is an 87 an prolly had already settled quite a bit so you will never get the drop that theysay you get on new springs.
How about mine. My springs I don't think were sagging. Should I expect more drop or go with sportline? they advertise 1.6" rear and 1.3" back I believe, which still sounds good for daily driving.

Screw it. I'ma send these things back and just try and cut my stock springs. I didn't know this would turn into a goddamn project .

Id try the DropZones too before you go cutting your stock springs. After I installed the DZ's I sold my stock crap...Let me look for the guys number and you can call him or ask him if he has an auction for Firebird springs...would they be the same as camaro springs? if so then he's got auctions on Ebay all the time...$100. and there yours...
heres one of his auctions for the camaro springs

My rear sits at 27 1/4" with the prokit. My front sits at 26 1/2". I couldn't imagine the car sitting any lower and still be drivable. My car actually came up 1/4 - 3/4" when I installed my prokit due to the age of my springs. The advantage of the pro kit is that the spring rate keeps the car where it sets through the variable spring rate. I always hit the bump stops before I installed the springs. I have yet to hit them since.
If you want to cut your springs you'll be riding on a washboard like a couple local honda's I've seen, but it's your car, and your bottom.
What are you looking for by lowering the car? Is it visual or for the performance? If it's the visual, air bag the car and slam the SOB. If it's performance, leave the prokit in overnight and measure again in the morning. Put the fronts in and drive it and feel the difference. If it still doesn't feel low enough get the sportlines.

Thanks for the replies, but I think I'll go ahead and use the prokit springs. I know they need time to settle so I'm gonna just do the fronts this weekend, drive it for some time and see what happens. I really don't wanna go more than 1" drop which is why I went with the prokit in the first place. Otherwise my exhaust will come close to scraping the ground. Not to mention added problems when jacking it up. Hopefully it won't take a long time for them to settle with me driving the car everyday.
