I have done searches and looked alot but I am curious to see some peoples favorite red aftermarket paint job. I have an 88 z28 project car that was originally red but while the engine is out I am going to start painitng the engine bay and some things. Right now I am leaning towards the 03 vette torch red but I am open to all opinons. Thanks for any help

 

Here ya go... https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hlight=deemax. This is Porsche Guards Red from PPG (the older tint...the one they'd used for the last 30 years or so. They changed it just a shade in the last year or 2). It's very close to the original red of the car, just a little less orange I thought. It was either gonna be this, or the Viper red. They're real close.

 

I love the paint job on your car, it looks really great. Any plans for wheels?

No,I doubt it's the ftry color.I wish that I could tell you what shade of red it is but that's the color it was when I bought it off a used car lot in '97.

The 89 on the first page is my current 89 RS, the car on the next pages was my 88 IROC before someone stole it then lit it on fire... Atleast the bastard was caught and is currently in jail for it, and waiting for his hearing that is scheduled for July 6th.

 

I kinda like Ferrari red

 

Seems to be the same shade of red as my car, Bright Red, even though mine is more faded and all in all worse condition then yours

 

Yeah they both do look like they are the same shade it just seems that mine has a bit more of an orange hue to it.Anyway your Zs paint looks like it is in a lot better condition than my Zs paint.My Z uses the 10ft rule.

seriously though that color dosent seem very commen at all atleast to me it dosent

 

Yeah mine uses the same rule, and I hate it, good thing I'm going into autobody, I'll be able to paint it myself

Oh and mine's got the same orange hue when it's clean, it was fairly dirty in those pics

 

At this point I'm not going to paint it any time soon because I'm saving up for a new engine(temporary),possible the common used 383.I'm then going to rebuild(learn how to anyway) the original engine and put it back in.Then the new engine will be put in a 70-73 Camaro like the one in the link,painting it the same way too.Well after all is said and done I'll repaint the Z.
One thing that I do regret is stripping the red paint off the wheels to try and polish them.Nothing was wrong with the wheels too.

I love that colour of red! All three of the Detroit makers are using something very close to that, a lot of them on trucks and mini-vans.

Are you going all red(like the gfx) or what? Nice cars everyone. heres a pic of my 85 z-28. original paint (little faded). Only it has the gfx different colors. I like it that way because it matches the wheels on my car.
