Traded some car parts for this hood. Looks pretty good, just need to adjust the latch so the hood closes lower.

I also put the lowering springs on the front,

Thanks guys.
I am debating if I want to paint it though since it will eventually find it's way onto my Black 86 Trans Am. I just installed it on the Formula so that it doesn't get damaged in my garage which is quite packed with the Trans Am and a bunch of parts.
Oh, and my Trans Am doesn't have any springs on the front, was too pissed off to put them in since it was 4am and we'd been working on the front springs swap for 8 hours.
all the bolts on the Formula were rusted, took about 4 hours per side to get the springs out.

I am 5'7 and since I have the lowering spring on the front right now, clearance is fine since the rear is higher.
I wanted the RA1 hood, but this was a decent deal so I couldn't pass it up.
I may leave this on the Formula and get the RA1 hood for the T/A, but right now, I plan on putting the RAII on the T/A.

That is the sweetest hood ever. You have the same nose on your Formula as I do on my Trans Am and I always wondered what a hood would look like. Sweet cars.

Thanks.
I think it looks pretty decent. Very agressive looking.
I am probably going to swap it for a RA1 hood soon though.

Dude, please get your other car started before doing more to this "new" car! You're like me, keep buying new parts and putting off the main task at hand. lol By the way, it does look pretty sweet, should look better when it if fitted properly!

I am going to be working on it all this week. Need to get the dash installed and do the wiring.
I am going to hold off on the Formula for a bit, I've done quite a bit to it in the past couple of weeks.

When I bought my SS hood I had trouble fitting it in properly! Even the guy that painted and did the body work could not get it perfect. One side of the hood is flush with the fender and the other side isnt. He said the only way to fix it is to move the fender and what not so he did not mess with it
It is not to bad though, people wont notice it until I point it out.

mine rubs the pass side fender. I'll align it today when my brother gets back and see how much better it sits.

The OZ's are going to go on the Formula unless someone trades me for some ZR1 style wheels.

Zepher,
When did you get a Formula?
Hood looks good. I have trouble enough seeing over the stock flat hood, so a RA 1 or 2 is definately out of the question.

Are you lying down in your car?
I have my tilt wheel all the way down and I have my seat at a 45* angle.

I fitted the front a little better, haven't adjusted the sides yet.
It still needs to sit lower in the front.
I am swapping it this weekend, so I am not really going to bother with it.

i got mine on the car today and i got to tell you so far i am not impressed. i had to take all the bump stops compleatly out to get it to sit low enough. but its still WAY out at the head lights. if you take a look at the pic you will see that the head light is right on with the fenders and the hood is way off.
not sure how to fix it at this point

a hole day just to fit it. its out over 1/2 an inch in the space of the headlight. that cant be right. for the most part it fits fine. but right at the light
ok so can i shim the headlight?
what about the fenders? can they be raised and not though out the door lines? and the nose?
i dont think i will be so lucky to have the hood start to sage after being on the car for a day or two
the way it looks the one corner HAS to come down

ok heres a different pic. that helps so see. the hood for the most part lined up right away you can see that the very front is down to far. but the one side is way off and moving the hood i dont think will help it line up better.

Is it possible to heat up the hood a bit and put a weight on that corner to get it to come down a bit?

its not as bad.
in all the pics you see i have the bump stops out and the hood is resting on the metal just in front of the rad. there is nothing stopping it or putting stess on it

ok then you need to put your hood stops on to Stress it in the top so it has to bend forward and zep i doupt it youd have to get it EXTREAMLY hot because fiberglass is like bondo with plastic
Any progress on fitting the hoods? I am having a whole lot of trouble getting my RAII right. The sides are good as far as space from the fenders but the hood sits too high over the fender like the previous pics. This is ridiculous. A hood made for a TA should fit!!!

I just moved the latch all the way down.
It can use a little more fine tuning, but it is ok how it is now.

We park one car in the backyard so it doesn't have to sit on the street. My brothers car was hit by the people across the street but they didn't come and tell us but we knew it was them or one of thier friends by the angle the car was hit.
